The enclosure design seem to enforce bass so much that there might be no bafflestep correction needed.

The boxes we use tend to not need BSC, so i i tend to prefer the series connection with a shunt cap. This decreases excursion at the bottom by a factor of 4, and the exact placement of the filter is much less critical.

Comb filtering might be an issue, though.
Which frequency will be affected in this design?
How strong is this effect?
And how will this be recognized hearing music?

At frequencies above the quarter wavelength of the driver centre-to-centre distance combing starts and gets worse as you go up un frequency. The graphs look horrid, but Toole has shown that our brains expect it and have mechanisms that make it less consequential to the ear/brain. If there wasn’t that tolerance no one would like line arrays or big planars which have lots of comb filtering. So, another situation where you have to listen and decide.

Next steps.
Inserted the magnets. Tried to push them not too deep into the wood to keep their maximum power.
Not really invisible under the paint.
At the end I'm satisfied with the finish.
Not pro but I don't need to hide the speakers.

So,
How does it sound?

@Spassgeneral
Thank you for this first class design.
I am really satisfied.

Bass is deep and tight. Very accurate bass lines. Mids and hights are crystal clear.
Very balanced sound over all.

Curious to hear what will be when the drivers are run in for about 50 to 100 hours

By now I can say, well worth the effort.
Compared to finished high end speakers a real bargain.

More like a measure of hearing acuity.

Like people recognizing cat’s expressions it is likely the portion of the population that can conciously detect this is small and tied to hearing acuity and training.

Scott seems to be a lowest common denominator guy.

If you can hear it, it is a problem, if you can’t it isn’t. If as you listen it starts to bother you, it means your training is getting better.

I’m not sure. I haven’t heard a line array i like (something has sounded wrong with everyone — except for Terry’s focused array, and with a 12’ listening distance i did not really hear an issue with a twin CHR70 box. On the other hand, we did not think the twin FF85k was as good as the single one.

Nice, another set of hybrids! Now I really need to start building mine, because we just moved and our living room looks so empty without any speakers :D

So you used the 8mm magnets under the paint? Have you tested them with the front grill already? How do they hold up? I need to get some magnets for my build also, but still wondering what size to get. I love the looks without the grills, but I'm a bit worried about our cats poking at the drivers.

Finished at last.
Hmmmmmmm.....
May be i will shorten the screws.
But then it's really done.

Hi Dave,
This is really not an issue.
The grills are fixed tight to the enclosures and these do not vibrate much.
And the grills do not give much surface to get into vibration just from sound.
To be sure I can detach the grills within a second when it gets loud.
