I haven't even taken the shroud off yet, I will do this and update with an answer.
A buddy just bought it (a 2250 SX), and right now I am wondering if someone swapped a 2100 board into the 2250 sink just based on how it plays. Not to derail my own thread, but what would be the easiest way to check this visually? I requested that he bring over one of his 2100s so I can compare.

Yes exactly. Do you know offhand what the output rail voltages should be on each? I assume they would be different, with the 2250's being higher, probably at least +/- 50 at least.
Thank you Perry. I am going to bring a 2100 in and do a side by side.
I think the 2250s are more desirable in the used amp market, and because they were designed to be less output stable more are in the graveyard. It is probably all in my head, I have more experience with the gen 1 Orions so I might just be off base.

Output stable? Do you mean that they were not designed to operate into as low impedance as the HCCA?
The term 'stable' should not have been used to refer to the amp's ability to drive a given load impedance. It was already being used to express an amp's ability to resist bad behavior (generally oscillation).
I don't know the rail voltage but if I remember correctly, I think Orion used rail voltage for the 2250 was greater than the rated voltage of the outputs. Maybe ±45 or 50v.

Yes. Probably near ±35v. At or just below the rail cap voltage. The regulation is determined by either 1 or 2 series connected Zener diodes that are connected to the 2N6488 that's standing near one of the transformers. Find those and you'll know about what the rail voltage should be.
Yes. The thermistor wire for the power supply side is routed under it, and I can see scratches on its housing where the fan has been hitting it. The fan itself seems perfect.
