B1 with Korg Triode

It's true that the Korg is somewhat limited in the voltage range that is practical.

I used Korg as preamp for MoFo and it worked very well with 94 dB speakers. I found out that I played below 1W RMS so Korg was not operating with higher output voltage than intended. I would suggest to try Korg with MoFo without any modification and listen how it sounds and measure output when playing at satisfying level and then make decisions. I may prefer Korg instead of BA-3 pre for MoFo even that "on paper" it is not intended for that.

Yes that's what I thought to. I listen to it now trough the Aleph 1.7 must say the first impression is not good. The first 20 minutes. Trough very cheap loudspeakers to begin with. But they has presented better earlier. Maybe to little gain in Aleph. (350 ohm)

Yes this is really good. But I think I must short the input 10 kohm resistors. And cut the the 3.3 kohm across the input. Would that be ok?

I would prefer avoiding another gain stage after the nutube, it could further colour the sound.

Don’t worry about it!!!! The NuTube is ALL color, (very beautiful) and an additional stage for voltage gain after the NuTube will be invisible.

I received yesterday the two ordered kits and I'm very happy to start my second diy project. The first was an Aleph 3 that I started building ... two years ago ... and I still have to finish 😱... I'd like to ask if anyone has tried the B1 Korg combination with Aleph 3?

I haven't tried the B1K with an Aleph 3, but i am using it with an Aleph 5 - it sounds very very good 🙂

I always have to pay tax and/or handling costs here in Germany if I buy from outside the EU.

handling costs customs: 6,67 €
and tax: 6,00 € 😱
