Some here seem to be challenged re: metaphors, innuendo, hyperbole, irony, interpolation, etc. Alas, there's always FB I guess

Surely he's just nicely gamey by now?Scott is already spoiled, nobody would hire him as fresh meat.
You can keep your head in the same place JN, but I would rather put the Bybees where they might be most effective. '-)
In your ears
Ahem, why was I thinking of another, likely much more effective, deep tissue place?
Sigh, I didn't say I prefer lack of sleep.🙁
I was always an 8 hour kinda guy. Five years ago that changed.
I'm trying to get back to 8...8 solid.
Not a fan of Arcade Fire? From their song Rebellion(Lies):
Sleeping is giving in,
No matter what the time is.
Sleeping is giving in,
So lift those heavy eyelids.
People say that you'll die,
Faster than without water.
Now we know it's just a lie...
Scare your son, scare your daughter.

I actually prefer real science and real engineering, but whatever floats your boat.
They do that quantum entanglement stuff near one of my offices, next to the humongous supercomputer and nanocenter.
I guess I could ask them what they think of Bybee as a quantum physicist...what do you think? I mean, none of the superconductivity researchers around the planet have ever heard of him, you think any of the quantum guys will have?

I think Jack would be very comfortable in that companion of professional peers, could you arrange a meeting?

We used to build Josephson junction detectors (to. replace Scottky based detectors) @NRAO from sputtered niobium on quartz substrates to detect photons from space back 50 years ago. Wonder if Bybee would improve detection differentials?
PS: Some here have wide ranging expertise across multidiscipline scientific pursuits, notwithstanding ignorant generalizations to the contrary.

No need. They speak absolutely perfect English over there. I know, I’m married to one.

We Americans get very annoyed that everybody in Europe speaks better English than we do. Tariffs can't be far behind.
All good fortune,

Josephsen effect = quasi inductance with no magnetic field = direct freq.> voltage conversion. Interesting, no?
Jack has been out of applied physics for 35 or more years now. Most of what he did was classified as well, and probably still is.
Like Ed Simon's measurements, when people simply do not believe that someone is doing something real, then they can always say that they don't think they are for real. You guys simply don't believe in anything you have never been exposed to in your specific work environment.
However, I believe in what I hear, and it has kept me in good stead with my profession (which is audio design) for more than 50 years. I have heard Bybees make a difference over the last 25 years, we shall see what happens when I try these new ones.

What was done 35 years ago is beyond useless. Classified shmassified. Stop running guard for him.Jack has been out of applied physics for 35 or more years now. Most of what he did was classified as well, and probably still is.
You constantly try to muddy the waters. Much of what Ed does with on the edge measurements (outside of actual engineering which he is good at) is just not up to par with experimental controls.Like Ed Simon's measurements, when people simply do not believe that someone is doing something real, then they can always say that they don't think they are for real. I believe in science, I believe in the scientific method, I believe in reproducibility of results. You believe in....actually, I don't know what you believe in. Your promotion of garbage soils your reputation...
Unfortunately, that and a quarter will get you a phone call...actually, it won't nowadays..However, I believe in what I hear, and it has kept me in good stead with my profession (which is audio design) for more than 50 years.
The audio guys I know have never heard of you. At the end of your time on earth, will you only be remembered by two or three audio guys?
As opposed to me, who will be known by at least three high energy physics guys.??
Seriously though, what legacy do you wish to leave behind? I'm working with a nearby university to train the next generation...you are promoting bogus quantum garbage...

Like this ---> 1985 TAA: Took an existing circuit and upgraded it and added the 0.15 Ohm --- in art I show the before and after THD reduction from the speaker I have also shown that here in this forum before.
View attachment 777573
[This is also what Joe is ranting and raving about. BTW ]
So. help Joe; What is the reason THD from speaker was lowered?

Richard,
The circuit you have shown is a way to implement a current drive amplifier, or more correctly stated, an amplifier of higher output impedance. The actual OP Z will be dependent on the component values of those 3 resistors (in FB path).
This is exactly the same configuration that Marshall Amplification used in their 'Valvestate' amps introduced around '91 to try and make a SS amp emulate some of the characteristics of a tube amp. I'd say lowering driver distortion was not one of their priorities 🙂 more the opposite. https://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&...chematic.pdf&usg=AOvVaw1tdja3etzPdH9tfyay06yR See page 3, R29 is the 'current sense' resistor, R8/R32 gain.
However the component values you have shown will only increase the OP Z by a very small amount. So your 0.15 would have to be quite a bit higher as would the 'gain' of the amp.
You may also notice that the 'Reverb Tank' driving circuit on P2 is exactly the same but with much higher OP Z - as they correctly like to be driven.
Just like Tape Recorder Heads etc etc.
I figured you were on the plane by now..Trivial to some, but apparently woefully missing in others

I inherited two interns 6 weeks into a ten week program... I tossed them into the deep end of the pool, detailing what I wanted them to learn w/r to cosine phi modulation of a soleniodal winding to produce multipole superconducting magnets on a tapered tube. (Which btw, is significantly beyond current state of the art in any national lab on the planet). Problem is, they produced wiring files for my "best on the planet" 11 axis ultrasonic welding winding machine before I could leave the damn building.. I spent the next two weeks working hard to even keep them busy..
Sheesh.
Some of the youth today... Totally awesome.
They still have holes in their learnings, that is where we should come in. (You know...us old guys..) I now find myself in the position of explaining to upper management that they need to hire these guys when they graduate, so have to keep in touch.
Sigh. One can only hope. Jn
Not sure.. How good is he with a mop?I think Jack would be very comfortable in that companion of professional peers, could you arrange a meeting?

Phone text message conversation with an EE friend of mine.
To Morris from Joe:
"Yesterday had an online discussion and was blown away by a simple fact that even among those who consider themselves on 'expert' level cannot stomach F=BLi equation because it does not fit their world view based on a voltage model. They will shift, twist, side-step and conflate other issues into it. Yet I presented proof that any measured current produces an exact same change acoustically. I proved doubling the current produced an inrease in 6dB SPL. They said it changes with frequency and I slapped my head, it works at ANY frequency. I stared down the madness... so this is what we are up against. The force = Bli, where "i" stands for current, is ignored, an inconvenient truth."
From Morris to Joe:
"KISS. Keep it simple, stupid. How many examples are there where people have forgotten or don't know how things work, preferring to think of them Black Boxes. E.g opamps, DSP, DACs, logic, etc."
Joe's reply:
"Precisely! Compartmentalised in the brain, they have to unlearn. But some will thank you and others will hate you because you disturb their world view. But that is how it is."
Morris replies back:
"Unfortunately the world is full of audiophilia is religion and politics combined. As far as I'm concerned, I do what I do. If you like it, great, if not, it's a free country."
Good advice, it's a free country. That exchange was this morning (10AM here).
"Black Box" thinking. I will remember that.
