I totaly vote for using pure solid gold , platinum and diamonds in audio systems , we need loads of them actually because their value will stay with time.99.9999999999999999999999999% of the cheap copper-stanium , silicon pcb electronics are loosing their value too soon 🙂
Platinum wires - excellent for audio! We would have temperature sensors in our system then, rather than just cables.
Many years ago a friend of mine visited one of his friends, who was an artist. He looked at his work, paintings IIRC.dreamth said:I still remember a famous painter who once was asked to give a price for one of his painting and he said : i want 1 million dollar for this painting. The client asked...Why do you ask so much money? What makes it so valuable? Why don't you ask 100 000 dollars or 2 million instead? The painter said...I don't know...I put all my soul in it and besides, 1 million dollars sound awesome!
"This is nice" said my friend.
"Yes" said artist "I can get £100 for that".
"This one is not so nice"
"Yes" said artist "that is not so good. I will get £500 for that."
When selling rubbish to rich people it is always difficult to know how much detail to put in the accompanying story. Too little detail and the suckers will not bite. Too much detail and wise people will laugh. Fortunately, the suckers may take this as a perverse form of endorsement; if 'conventional' people diss it then it must be good, no?
That's hilarious. A thread about how people buy into BS ends up with a great example. Unfortunately it has also finished this thread by starting the pollution. Please keep these comments in the bybee thread.
Had you been able to prove what i said to be wrong,
This might have been, ' hilarious '.
Should anyone be able to prove it wrong,
Please do so.
Use as much math as needed.

Thanks to the medium details story, world is now aware an Iphone sounds now as good as a damned Bose.
In a nudist camp, try to find if two people having an Iphone are rich or poor... you may find both have beaten the apple like in paradise !

Similarly, an good painter locally wasn't selling a lot of pictures, though they were good, and well exhibited locally. A wiser head told him to change his average price from £100 ish to £500 ish. He sells a lot more now! Crazy.
I could quote Zappa's definition of art, but it will offend sensitive artistic types.....
PS, I know to my cost there are also sensitive EE's around, what's the world coming to? 😉

Reminds me of a story my father often recalls. He used to set night lines for fishing and sold the catch to a local fishmonger, who to give him his due always paid the full market price and didn't exploit the kids.
He priced a haul of dabs (flat fish) at whatever it was, say 6d (an old sixpence) or whatever and they didn't sell and so he upped the price to 1s 6d (one shilling and six) and the lot sold in very short time.

Generally, it is the custom that whoever makes a claim provides some proof or facts and figures. Throwing up some wild statement and then ask others to prove it wrong generally is not a good career move ;-)

I think there was some statement about electrons having variable charge?
Spouting nonsense and then demanding proof that it is wrong is not a good way to learn physics at any level.

We are in the lounge

Yes Pavel we are. Unfortunately we still have to follow the rules and some of the members have forgotten that.
I have removed their posts and will be awarding some 'ride the pine time' to anyone who wants to step over the line again. The other unfortunate thing is that I have to remove posts from members not breaking the rules because they contain a rule breaking quote. Collateral damage I'm afraid.

Well, if only we could find a way to turn ignorance into energy, we'd have an endless supply.
It costs more so it must be better ?
If I make changes to an amp it must improve it ?
Gentlemen, may I also remind you that discussion of moderation or a Moderator's action is forbidden here. I make not the rules but I'm sure as **** going to make certain they are followed. Offending posts removed.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

I'm not sure if you quoted the wrong message or if I'm not understanding some twist of the English language, but I don't think I've ever made such claims.
We are all familiar with the current obsession of collection information, any information, about peoples' preferences, habits, personal data, etc, to be used in targeted sales activities.
How about exploiting peoples' ingnorance? For example, if you are a used car salesman, it would be of value to know that your customer knows f*ck all about cars.
I knew of a car salesman that worked at a Buick dealership across from a 55 and over development. They routinely used the ignorance of the senior community not being able to use the internet to price compare, shop, use truecar.com etc etc. He said almost every car was sold 15-20% above sticker
