I toured China for 10 days with one of these guys. Said he was a black ops agent at the Bay of Pigs, then spent 3yrs recuperating in a secret hospital in Mexico... it only got better.

Met a few of those folks along the way. Funny that none of them knew about the directorate of operations, the national clandestine service, the second directorate or even where the ops training took place.

The fellow who inquired if I was interested, last I paid attention was working for a software security firm.

One of those good lifetime decisions when I said no.

EUVL, I think your design is closer to another design that I did a few years later. This design was a building block for several studio boards, and several more analog master recorders. It was very successful.

Pro use is as the input connector for an on-stage microphone. Besides the glitz it makes identifying the lead singer's microphone easy.

Now as to how the crystal energy sharpens the focus of the acoustical energy into the microphone's electrical signal is a mystical process best only known to a few truly skilled practitioners.

Of course special microphone cable must also be used so as not to degrade the vocals.
I know the guy who used (fallen for) it on his interconnect cables. This may have been the predecessor to those embedded crystals.

Obviously he is going to be disappointed, the bags of crystals belong completely around the connector. If you can't do something as simple as that right, how can you stay in the business.

I am sure PMA will share with us the measurements showing the proper use of crystals.

He was excited enough to write up his positive review on the seller's website.

He says things like you can't measure everything we hear or forget the measurements, trust your ears. As if they all drink from same water well... :scratch2:

I kind of like the fact that folks here often don't get some of my insulting humor. But with examples like the crystals, reality may just be an illusion.

Now I do truly believe crystals can improve the flavor of food. I do keep NaCl crystals around for that purpose.

It's not on to diss other peoples hobbies.

I think you are reading into the simple statement... what is not there. No diss'ing others hobbies.

What is the interest in audio if spending large sums is a priority on other hobbies? Just for the fun of trashing one another?

It has helped Me to understand why nothing much is invested by many here in their audio. I had wondered if it was only a matter of available funds.

Where's the audio?

But also where is the interest in audio if spending large sums on other hobbies.

It has helped Me to understand why nothing much is invested in their audio.

Nothing wrong with multiple hobbies if you can afford them.
Variety is the spice of life.

I don't spend a lot on my audio, my favourite speaker is a 1980's Fane 12-50WRMS in a W bin.
No amp just a USB DAC out of my PC straight into speaker.

Often one hobby augments (or creates) other hobbies.
Audio electronics co-exists with solar and lighting. Why do you think there
are so many LED's in my designs.
I knew about the H-bridge from my industrial background (another hobby - Hydro generation).

Arduino based audio protection has spawned another hobby - robotics.
And on and on ....
All the 'offshoot" hobbies can feedback into audio.
Some on the forum that are machinists and auto enthusiasts produce the best
DIY amplifiers (and speakers) on this forum - WAY better than even the commercial sector.

My background is an Industrial Electronics engineer.
I have built amps from about 1980 but never really understood them very well. Its only in recent years I put some effort into learning how they work.
I have now made a few designs ranging from valves to bi-polar, to mosfet to IGBT.
Completely made a mess of the IGBT amp, I thought there were NPN and PNP versions, well there are but not in the bi-polar sense. So my first IGBT amp didn't work. I had to convert it to a quasi complimentary amp to get it to work. We learn from our mistakes.
