Global Warming/Climate Change hoax

Today's car engines are far more efficient than those of the past, overall getting better mileage and also producing more horsepower from fewer cylinders and cc's. And overall auto company fleets are more efficient. The advances in IC engines have been dramatic. That said, cars are an American (and also in other countries) iconic consumer good, romanticized by many, a hobby to many. High power and luxury have long been a point of distinction and marketing in the auto world. I do not see that changing. On the other hand, driven by the price of gas and depending on one's environmental philosophy, high mileage cars, hybrid cars, plug in hybrids and electric cars have grown greatly in the past 20 years. Most consumer trends of large ticket items evolve over time, and out of need, cost or concern relating to one's circumstances.

The biggest change has not been efficiency, although that has improved.

The biggest change has been in manufacturing tolerances and the ability to make an engine that will run 200,000+miles (300,000 KM) without burning significant oil.

I remember the days of the 60s with cars from the 50s that you couldn't hardly see if you were following them because of the smoke from burnt oil due to failed rings and bad valve guides.

FWIW, I’ve been a minor echelon fanboy* of the whole DC comic universe off and on for over 50yrs, and of all the permutations of both origin, ultimate destiny and multi-verse stories that an 80 yr old popular mythology series has to offer, the reasons for / mechanisms of Krypton’s destruction have varied almost as much as the actors portraying Kal-El on the little and big screens.

*not an encyclopedic nerd of the lore, but rather an eternal prepubescent who enjoys seeing impossible things happen, and those comics came along at just the right time.

I went so far as to buy several of Carmine Infantino's original silver age pages from his agent before he passed away.

EDIT - Leadbelly please some respect, Chris and I were not adults at the time. 🙂 Oh and BTW check them out, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Star Gate, etc. are all all there in those 50's to 60's stories.

Thanks, Scott - yes Leadbelly, if you want to to the math, I’m talking about since around ‘62 or so, when the word “tween” didn’t even exist - it was proceeds from my weekly TV Guide route - remember those? Oh, maybe before your time😀

And a few years later, the ole gal that ran the corner store - Mrs Frost, geeze, but I’d love to buy her a beer - didn’t blink an eye when I graduated to the second shelf above comics counter to grab the Playboy after quaffing one of her wonderful ice-cream floats. I think she retired before the advent of Penthouse and plastic wrappers.

Climate change conspiracy is promoted by the majority of scientist studying climatology as it pads their wallets.

Climate change denial conspiracy is promoted by the energy industry (Big Oil, etc) to cover up their destruction of the environment while they pad their wallets.

Which is more plausible?
