Here we go with the insults again...…. of course, and I dont mean as a molecule of silver being any different in wire symmetry. See Van den hul.
A piece of wire by itself has no directionality. A cable might depending on connectors and construction and different materials interfacing.
Sorting that out might have little significance or higher significance would depend on the audio gear connectors being used with the cable and not the same for everyone's system.
Myself, I havent heard any directionality in my cables in my systems....except for shielding issues due to cable construction/grounds.

BTW - the Crown dsp is a LOT better than the minidsp from analog in to analog out.
Hi Richard
Does this mean you compare them in flat configuration input to output and the Crown hardware sounds to you better than the minidsp hardware?
Or it means the dsp program of each produces a different acoustic result (Crown program as a reference and Minidsp program compared against it)?
Or it means you compare the dsp capabilities/ease of programming of each?
George
Ouch! One of the Masters of Snake Oil.
I dont know what he claims sonically but he does make the silver wire as large xtal etc. Good to get info from a source and not a reviewer etc. He gave me a lot of solid silver wire samples a long time ago and I never found a use for them. Like I said, I never heard them nor directionality except as noted.

yes... but only measurement-wise. No sound comparison.

He makes the wire, right. There are times when I think there should be a full all go in onslaught on this audio BS. But then there is nothing to be gained.

Thanks.
Are the differences significant?
Any chance to show the measurement results?
George
Wire direction is easy to hear with one strand of solid core wire. Hard to hear with very fine stranded cable. If you can't hear the difference good for you, you don't know what you are missing and living happy. Listening to music should make you happy.

Really, and how do you know this is true, relevant, or outstanding? I can claim I make wire out of copper cations in fixed lattice positions and delocalized electrons that form the metallic bonds, holding the lattice together. Because my copper only contain one type of lattice component, the result is a high coordination number. Does this mean there's anything outstanding with my copper wire?
Beside your point is that Mark listens in near field (close to speakers). The cone displacement is very much lower this way and lower listening level also aids in reduced listening fatigue. This minimizes the spkr distortion and also suppresses the room influence . All together, it is much easier to detect any differences.
Under those conditions, the only down side is detecting differences in the bass. Higher spl is needed here for the obvious reason.

My point is that, if the distortions he is worried about are at -40dBA then either we are in extraordinary claims territory or (more likely) there is another issue and the SRC chip is being blamed.

I dont. Just saying go to a source for information. He was obviously promoting his silver wire and how its made and why that is important and relevant. Is he still alive? We can ask Him. Re copper having similar construction... would it be better than silver? I dont know. I dont use silver if possible only because its quick to oxidize. And the nature of that particular oxide.
My guess is that oxides are a serious issue..... maybe because it is in that HF skin affect area. A tightly bound covering/insulation that is air tight is needed more than which metal.

Listening to music should make everyone happy.
Sometimes it makes me sad 🙁
That's when the anxiety sets in and you realize that you can't hear the directionality of your cables. I wonder what Rick is selling.

It's funny, sometimes music makes me happy and sad st tge same time, or btings outca sadness but mskes me feel happy or satisfied to have the sadness drawn out. When my father died I couldn't stop listening to "My Act of Remembrance" by The Proclaimers for a couple of days.
I watched the last night of the proms yesterday, songs have amazing power, there was also the theme of the first world war....very moving
