Long story short, as soon as it gets big, and by big I mean bigger than a typical 5"-6" 2-way, shipping is going to murder the cost and make the cost/value proposition untenable.
Don't get me wrong, I genuinely love the idea of a speaker in the store and would love to have some incredible solution present itself that would make it work.
I'd also definitely be interested in pre-fabbed multi entrance or multi-cell horns that we could add drivers to from wherever we are in the world. My only concern would be weight - freight out of the US is very dear for a lot of us. Could the design be registered out to selected local suppliers - I know we had someone here in Oz doing frugelhorn panels at one stage.
I know we are voting but to me something that completes our main amp 'themes' would make sense e.g. something along the lines of the he10 design for amp camp (i.e. eminence 10" coax with about 95db) and something along the lines of original basszilla/deluxe econowave/altec multi horns etc. for first watt/mofo.

I did make a suggestion in post #63 but it may not have been put eloquently enough. We realize now that there is no point in arguing whether there should have been FR or not. There is fans of any loudspeaker type and performance is generally not important. People can have their fun just as much building any kind. Personally I would add computer desktop mini speakers to the list and boombox also.

, just at this moment I am busy with the design of a 3-way classic for a friend.
There is also the option the make the speaker 4-way (or call it a 3-way with sub) by adding 2 woofer cabinets. The picture below makes it clear.

The project was started as a 3-way, but after the demand to add a subwoofer to the system, the 4-way option has been created.
So the 4-way consists of 3 cabinets, to make it all not too heavy as a total.
The size of the 3-way with foot: W x H x D = 36 x 90 x 42 cm.
The size of the 4-way with foot: W x H x D = 36 x 159 x 42 cm.
Just as an info, the drivers, and crossover chosen for my project are:
woofers: 2 x Eton 11-212 parallel
midwoofer: 1 x Eton 11-212
midrange: 1 x Accuton C173-6-096E
tweeter: Seas Be E0058-06
Crossover design wiil be done digital using miniDSP.
4 filter types will be designed: LR4, B3 and elliptical 5th and 3rd order.
Drivers for the 3-way and the miniDSP are already at home.
I will built as first the 4-way on short term.
I am prepared to fully support a DIY forum version, with cabinet dimensions, driver types, crossover implementation to be chosen.
I voted for the 3-way classic low budget, because there might be the more interest for it than a high end version.
The speaker I currently design can be equipped also with low budget drivers.

Aatto, thank you for your initiative and willingness to even attempt something like this. 
I sincerely hope that it will get off the ground because I personally believe that it could really help many members (like me) stepping out into diy speaker building – whether it is the first set of speakers or the ultimate ones. Just look at how fast the new ACA kits are flying off the shelf to mostly newcomers - then there must be many members just waiting for this. I think one of the most difficult things here is to decide what to build, given each one’s constraints like amp, room, budget, skill level etc. This alone presents so many variables, let alone all the different types of speakers. But this should not prevent us from starting somewhere.

This is the multi-way speaker forum. There are no subwoofers or panel speakers on the list either. Nor are there digital crossovers or power amplifier modules. Nor... Drawing the line at multi-way speakers seems a reasonable thing to do to me in a multi-way forum.
Plenty of people get enthusiastic about single driver speakers and so setting up a project to design a diyaudio single driver speaker looks a good idea to me. But I would suggest it should take place in the single driver forum where people are enthusiastic about them.
Sorry, maybe I missed the plot, looking at the OP again. But I see no reason why Full Rangers cannot be included, even if this thread was started on Multi-Way.

Thanks, it was just an idea (not even a new one) and the rest is on more experienced people here.
as i mentioned I posted the choices while back and since i did not have any direct replies ( i can not read every single post to see if they mentioned something ) i went ahead and post the poll. but this does not mean it is what it is, I do have a fullrange (FAST) system myself but I rather see something more complicated here. but this is just me and i only have one vote.
but please keep in mind rather than trying to push our own preferences on others, we have to remember everyone have their own, and if we don't like the idea or how this goes we can stay aside rather than being not helpful.

Is dsp-xo really banned? It would suit those high-end projects well and even simulators like Vituixcad2 support it. For example I don't even want to start learning to design passive xo's and even to use simulators - try-measure-adjust is the best I can do! Minidsp products are available around the world and setting files can be published for downloading.

I have assumed that the xo can be analog or digital.
It should be interesting to make both design types to have the choice.
