If i am not mistaken the output impedance of the Cronus is the same as the Potato Semi chip + resistor values in the slots R1-R7.
The manufacturer spec sheet does not share any info on the impedance of the chip. Anyone around here know?
PO74G74A
VOH Min=2.4V IOH=-12mA VCC=3V
so
ZOut Max ~ (3-2.4)/0.012= ~ 50 ohm

Cronus 1.3 outputs are actually buffered with PO74G38072A
Specs are the same though.
When will the Cronus modules become available again
Zoltan
New boards have been ordered. They should be back in stock in a couple weeks.

Yes, exactly the same.
I'm an extremely happy BBB/Hermes/Cronus user, but curiosity got the best of me and I would like to test NDK NZ2520SDA with Cronus.
It is a tiny part and I wonder if it would fit on an unpopulated Rhea module?
If yes, do you think it would make a measurable/audible difference?
Thanks!

I think so, and I don't think so. 🙂

Haha! Thanks for the quick and informative reply! 🙂
Cronus Reclocker
Russ,
I have placed a larger order wth Twisted Pear. I am still missing the Cronus Recloker component. Any visibility of when the new batch will be available?

I ordered a fresh batch (with a minor revision) - I would expect them to arrive in a couple weeks. Version 1.4 will have an optional master clock inverter for the Hermes interface exported master clock. This will help with timing in certain situations where the FF timing requirements were not met.
Sorry for the delay - I have several things in the works at the moment and I have been writing a lot of firmware 🙂

Do you have news?
After some testing we did some redesign (after testing Hermes PI) Sorry for the delay - we will post when the new boards have arrived.
There will be a Cronus 1.4 (change is an optional inversion of master clock to Hermes - this can help with signal alignment at the FF)
And there will be a Hermes-RPI 1.1 (1.0 worked but needed a signal to disable the bitclock when music is not playing)
Again, sorry for the delay - but prototyping is not always simple 🙂

Final boards (v1.4) have arrived, and I am awaiting a new stencil to begin building. They should be back in stock in the next week.

Hi Brian,
Can you advise the latest firmware usable for Amanero with Hermes/Cronus Combo?
Hi Brian,
Great that the Cronus is available again!
I want to try a FIFO, but the DIYINHK FIFO does not do multichannnel, the Cronus can.
Just to be sure: I want to use it with the DIYINHK XMOS multichannel USB to I2S board. This board has it's own 22.5/24.5 master clocks. This clock is used by my BIII in synchronous 8 channel mode. This works great.
Can I connect the XMOS master clock to the Cronus instead of a Rhea module, will this work?
The XMOS switches between the clocks as needed. Si I can connect the masterclock to one of the clock pads on the Cronus.
Thanks!

marcelooms: you should connect masterclock from that board into one of MCK or U_MCK pads. And keep the Rhea clock pads unconnected.

Thanks, that's what I figured.
