Without hearing either 8" midrange driver, the low Qtc=0.21 on the 8PE21 gets my attention for a good "details" blending with a large AMT, especially with a 400Hz crossover.

I used one pair of Beyma 12P80NdV2 and can easily identify the "details" its Qtc=0.16 bring out when compared with 12" woofers with Qtc~0.37 and even a traditional 12" midbass with Qtc~0.25. If you decide on the Beyma 12P80NdV2, you should review the reduced resonances my "stuffed tapered tube" rear volume simulations show -- I would recommend you build a similar test box plus 3" rounds on the baffle edges to reduce diffraction. Great Sound requires a Big Picture point of view.

The B&C 8PE21 has Qtc=0.21
The Faital 8PR155 has Qtc=0.37
The Beyma 12P80NdV2 has Qtc=0.16

mmm...you mean Qts, right? I see 8PR155 has Qts of 0.37 and 12p80Nd-V2 with Qts of 0.16, yet 8PE21 with Qts of 0.19 instead of 0.21.

Would you mind elaborating why you correlate Qts to midrange sound performance? Not challenging the notion, but I had not come across it until now so interested in learning.

Interestingly, 18Sound 10NDA610 is a purpose midrange driver and Qts of 0.23, and Tang-Band W8-1772 has Qts of 0.27.

There seems to be correlation between drivers considered to have good midrange and lower Qts, and would love to understand what would be the underlying driver.

PS: about the eJML-300...unfortunately shipping any of those horns to Argentina gets super expensive, especially for a test. Been down that road with SEOS-30.

But the 10MCF400Nd should give similar results once the rear chamber has been opened. But it will be useless to me until I open the rear chamber.

According to my calculations, either of the above drivers will result in a Qtc half that of the 12P80Nd. I can't wait.

I've been listening to TPL150H + 12P80Nd for years and love it.

In searching for strong motors, I've found EBP to be a good number to look out for. It allows us to identify drivers that would have low Qes if they didn't have closed rear chambers.

B&C 8NSM64_8Ω also has potential with its EBP of 700Hz.
But I would prefer 10" driver.
I haven't noticed any problems with the 12P80Nd being "too big".

what's your xo point and slope between TPL and 12p80?

I actually don't know because it is such a mess and passive.
Something like 1st order 1500hz LPF for the 12P80Nd and 3kHz 3rd order HPF for the TPL150H.
It was supposed to be temporary, hahahaha.
Even with the crude crossover, the speakers have been remarkably pleasant.
I look forward to implementing active crossovers within the next few months.
Then I'll be in better position to comment on the high frequency limitations of the 12P80Nd.

As much as I like the 12P80Nd, I think I'll prefer the 10MCF400Nd (after opening the rear chamber).
 
Bumping this thread since I might plan to use 10MCF400Nd with Beyma TPL200 and probably 21PW1400Fe V2.
Want to build a high efficient 3 way speaker with lot if headroom and very low distorsion.

Several years layer, anyone uses it? Still happy, no regret, no complaint ?
