Dear Mr Curl,
were you trying for the quote 'science advances one funeral at a time', in which case it was Max Planck, not Lord Kelvin 🙂

Drewan, thanks for the input. I do now recall that it was Max Planck, who made that statement, but I did not think that Lord Kelvin had stated it, because he would be one of the biggest obstacles to 'new' physics.
This might help you to better understand electronic noises -@Headroom
Would you tell a "experiment" - it would help me, to understand your categories "intrinsic noise" and "excess noise"-)
Understanding Noise Terms In Electronic Circuits | Electronic Design
At this stage I have not devised a test method of measuring these noises under music signal conditions.

So, Socrates did the right thing after all?
money = ivory = white = romantic infatuation with killing animals for their ivory, like ol' grandpa used to do.
money = snake oil = fooling and colluding with others to corner a market that is based upon pure fiction and not hard facts, similar to ivory hunting, see above.
money money money.

Some arts sales was trying to get me interested in some paintings. Using different tactics I was quite familiar with, I finally explained why I did not like each of the printings one by one while also pointing out some specifics I liked as well. They finally let me go when I asked to use the rest room.....
Anyway, having swapped one power cable out, I decided to see if I could find one of the same #14 core power cable. I was surprised that it had become more available now. Just about $7 for a two meter length replaces my original cables fine. The sound? Wowed me with the solid low end. Sound image did increase in depth making a more distinguished forward and aft depth differentiation. Sound is also slightly less fatiguing at higher volume setting. These conductor diameters are closer to the wires in the wall.

What does #14 specify? Is this the conductors' cross section area? How much is it in metric units, i.e. square millimeters? What was the cross section of the cable you've been using before? How long is the cable in meters?
Anyway, unless the 1st cable wasn't like the one that one uses for door bell installations and/or of excessive lenght and/or your amplifier (or whatsoever) doesn't draw current like an electrical room heater, significant and reproducible (!) impact on sound is more than unlikely, if not to say, a claim for this impact appears to be ridiculous - snake oil, so to speak.
Best regards!

So now all you have to do is replace the cabling all the way back to the generator !!!!!
.
Google is your friend....What does #14 specify? Is this the conductors' cross section area? How much is it in metric units, i.e. square millimeters?
Another arm chair expert, you are clueless.Anyway, unless the 1st cable wasn't like the one that one uses for door bell installations and/or of excessive length and/or your amplifier (or whatsoever) doesn't draw current like an electrical room heater, significant and reproducible (!) impact on sound is more than unlikely, if not to say, a claim for this impact appears to be ridiculous - snake oil, so to speak.
Stay with drilling teeth and sniffing glue fumes, you don't have the aptitude for audio.

Really funny is asking the artist what the (unrecognisable) image represents....the answers are entertaining and give insight into the mind of the 'artist'....they are usually off their heads. Some arts sales was trying to get me interested in some paintings. Give the cable a bunch power cycles and a few days to settle in.Anyway, having swapped one power cable out, I decided to see if I could find one of the same #14 core power cable. Always funny when the truly clueless accuse the clued up ones of being clueless.
Thanks for the laughs Max!

That is called Dunning-Kruger effect.
It takes a few days for the insulations to 'relax' and conform to the new lay and the conductors find final positioning in the sheath.
This will change electrical characteristics slightly, and consequently the sound.
These are minor effects and not of great importance, no need to get so heated about this.
So Mr Darwin, just how many items of audio gear have you repaired and then auditioned, or just auditioned ?.

So Soongsc is wowed by minor effects of no great importance? 🙄
Max we are still waiting for your two bit-identical files which sound magically different from each other.
Last time your excuse was lack of time however you managed to analyze some other stuff and post those since.
It almost gives the appearance that you know full well that your claims do not stand up to scrutiny beyond your collection of meaningless anecdotes from other people.
Come think of it scrap the 'almost' from above sentence.
