Watch out for motor start caps, as they are often non-polarized Al caps and not near as good as the motor run caps which are polypropylene.
I also like the motor run caps and pick them up at any local HVAC shop for a reasonable price. They often ask what compressor it's for - and when I say it's for speakers, that always gets a look. 🙂
They are obviously NOT "audio grade" caps but on the other hand they do have many qualities usually valued by "diyers".
An MKP is an MKP is an MKP. That's cheapskate for "audio grade".
Amazon unlimited Music
It comes in handy because you can listen to an album (via streaming)
all the way through before you decide to purchase it.

I buy a fair few cd 's via Amazon , the ones sold by them come with autorip which you allows you to download as soon as the orders completed .
I get a good recording , a convenient one and the artists get paid .

I have bought a few CD's locally just to find that I could have gotten them cheaper via Amazon.
Now I just order them from Amazon as it's quick and easy and I can sample to my hearts delight.
I have a couple of wishlist one is Music that I'm undecided the other is ones to definitely buy.
I typically listen to the album all the way through at least once before it moves to the definitely buy list.

Bingo! The electrons flowing through the circuits don't know if they're assigned to the "audio grade" experimental condition or to the control group either. 😉

It is legal as long as you use a double switch to cut both live and neutral. Personaly I like IEC very much but back in the days I wasn't familiar with them I did it your way. I just did a knot to the wire inside the box so that it couldn't pull out. Now in case I can't use IEC I do it as in the pic
Edit; This was the response to a post that now is missing (?)
If you are referring to the post that I made and quickly deleted (good catch). I decided to ask the diyaudio community to see if it was legal at first before giving out advice to others. over on this thread: Using cable grommets for mains leads? Still legal?
Those waterproof cable "glands" that are in your attached pic are definitley the way to go if you are going to do it today. I'm still waiting for my step drill to arrive on the long boat from HK.
The thread has since burgeoned into a very informative one with lots of suggestions and safety tips and legal requirements that must be adhered to for it to be legal in today's world to use a cable grommet for a mains lead, a switch of both live and neutral being just one of them, but thanks for reminding me about switching both, I forgot but I still think that I would've done it anyway by instinct because I learnt that rule a long time ago.

You can get them in stainless steel now too. a 4-6mm size or "PG7" seems to be the perfect size for the type of mains cable that I want to use. You don't want to go too large otherwise the grip on the cable won't be sufficient so I've decided to stick with something that will hold a cable tight and have enough room for it.
6 Pcs PG7 Metal Waterproof Locknut Stuffing Cable Gland Connector | eBay
I'm just done with IEC connectors, they take too much time mucking around with metal.

Drilling chassis is the most stressing part of my builds... For uneven shapes I drill small holes around and then finish with a file. I find it very easy and accurate, just not suitable for productivity. Believe it or not, this is how I'm routing speaker baffles!

I'm going to pop down to the local hardware store when it opens in half an hour and get some bolts with star washers (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/cons...e-grommets-mains-leads-legal.html#post5207608) and some AU mains power plugs, I've gotta convert a few imported tools like my new Weller 40w LED soldering iron and my Yinhua 908 soldering station from UK and EU plugs to AU and get some extra plugs for my up and coming DAC project. Those cheap and nasty adaptors from china will burn your house down if your not careful through arcing. The AU-side terminals on the adaptors (I believe big-clive calls them "deathdaptors") aren't the same thickness as standard AU plugs are so they'll move around and arc like crazy, once upon a time one even set off my smoke alarm with ozone or carbon particles but without any visible smoke (Photoelectric FTW). Just a standard PSA there.
YouTube
I'll also get some small fine files too, I badly need some new files as I've worn out mine.

Nice work you've done there.
On the power cord entry thing, do a search for:
power cord strain relief bushing
The ones that fold over on themselves should work.
I was in the hardware store and they had a box of assorted models.

Hi Guys
Are Caps included ? May I recommend Russian K73/16. Pls don't be put of by the fact that it is MKT, I assure you that it does not sound like the usual MKT types. I use lots of 0.01uf
caps for bypassing as well. You'd be surprise at the sound.
Cheers

I would also suggest the use of Panasonic FC 35v capacitors. They sound great. Initial results say that they sound better than Elna Cerafines.
K73's are well known. I would also like to suggest the K40Y-9, I've ordered some and have yet to receive them, I got the 0.1uF 200v variant for use as decoupling capacitors for a TDA1541.

You’ll never fully exploit the potential of the TDA if your building it this way Venusfly.
Smd is the way to go. Those K40 are huge in size for this application.

Actually I'm building the PCB with both options available: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/digi...c-sockets-plug-homemade-pcbs.html#post5222370
