that's a good answer...... efficiency ? and why is each human female getting larger cup size from generation to generation.
? Why only humans?

Perhaps the general tendency for people to be fatter (again, fat cells are involved)? Perhaps more exposure to estrogen or its analogs in utero?

All animals become fatter before winter, and slimmer before summer, but only modern urban species got stuck in end-of-summer metabolism forever...
This thread can sure take a left turn on you if you don't check in for a coupla days. 😀

Bad Scott!
In 1981 I was working on the AD524 breadboard and my boss came by while this was on the radio. Now you know why I stayed at ADI.
Sorry guys, sex aside, I still find improvements in audio quality and design to be most interesting to me. I suspect that most of you have given up on this and are only here for other reasons.
This week, I had Jack Bybee over and we ran some tests on some of his latest stuff. It did allude to noise measurement, but we still can hear the difference, so we are still looking as to why. We are actually working to improve even the best audio systems, and to a great extent, have succeeded.
Yes there is more to know and try than what is typically accepted as good engineering design.
On a standard engineering topic, Jack gave me a METCAL soldering iron and several tips. I find it a serious improvement over my Weller irons that I have used over the decades. Anybody else here use one?

If you're interested in audio, why not actually work on something that actually does something?

When you two guys hang out you actually wank this nonsense, hard to believe. Are you sure you're not just running the EJ Brandy through the magnetic improver?
Whatever works, that is my belief. Jack's stuff works for me and several other serious audiophiles/engineers. Tough that you can't try it.
Are you sayin' that you and/or JB don't have measurements ?.This week, I had Jack Bybee over and we ran some tests on some of his latest stuff. What is his latest gadgetry ?.
I have been doing some measurements on my filter....static signal measurements aren't showing anything solid.
Sonic Visualiser is showing some interesting stuff with music signals and line level send/return loop recordings, Diffmaker is pulling out -40dB changes.
Next step is to bridge across loudspeaker terminals.....reactive load shows audible differences more clearly, interestingly.
Dan.
Max, we were looking for a change in noise from jfets, bipolars or resistors. We could not measure any with the Quantech Noise Analyzer.

I've used Metcal equipment for over 20 years with very consistent results, even with smt parts.
Wish I could get the new system. Metcal | Connection Validation - CV-5200 - Smart Soldering Station

This is one of the areas where DBT is ill advised.
