I can't help but think this thread is about your 'favourite' speaker, rather than 'legendary.'
Legendary doesn't mean you like it or that it is spectacular in some way, legendary means that everyone knows it, many have an opinion, and chances are a whole bunch of them were sold.
Legendary could also mean that no-one has heard or seen them but many know the stories - most legends are like that.
The DCM Time Window 1A, the unique look, the coolest speaker name ever, and sounds terrific, what else?

LOL! The name does sound cool, especially if you happen to be a person of a certain age.
Wow ! just read the whole thread and saw Tannoy's original Mercury model mentioned but not a single listing for their polar opposites at the time , the Heybrook HB 1 .
Back in the day these were two of the main contenders for budding audiophiles , i had both but the Heybrooks , for my tastes , were more exciting especially when hooked up to the classic Nad 3020 amp.

I bought four 12 inch Fane 50WRMS speakers for a mobile disco and they sounded good and were very loud. They were £28 each in 1980.
A couple of speakers from the '70s:
Cambridge Audio R50. Large/heavy transmission lines using KEF B139, B110, T27 plus Coles supertweeter. There's a picture in this Wiki entry:

B&W DM-70. Unusual speakers using a 12" bass/lower-mid and electrostatic mid/treble:
stereonomono: B&W DM-70
Both the above sounded very smooth and easy on the ears.

Any of the Dunlavy Audio Labs speaker are technically superb speakers. Excellent response in the frequency domain and in the time domain.

Absolutely excellent sound, if you inhabited one of the narrowest "Sweet Spots" in the World.

One day JBL will stop making them and you'll kick yourself if you haven't yet listened to to a well seti up pair at least once. 😉

80s Linn Index .. sealed sound, alot of presence.
Not much of a legend in my opinion - a popular sale though so are prolific, see lots of them.
Things I have noticed appear to be legendary are:
Heybrook HB1s
AR 18s
in that groups of people have sought them for studio monitoring on the cheap (home studios etc).

Celestion SL600 / SL700s appear to have a small legend around them, perhaps because of the materials they were made from stuck in people's minds.
Full size Klipschorn with Altec Lansing VOTT drivers. Fine if you have the room!
You can build your own if you are good at compound cuts on the table saw. (This cabinet actually an exact copy of Electro Voice Georgean).
Rattles the windows at about 20 Watts!

The legendary speakers I wish to hear: Mark Levinson HQD, Tannoy Silver, Siemens Eurodyn and Western Electric 15A.
How about the Lowther Acousta:
Acousta
Something of a cult speaker, available in more or less the same version since the late '50s. I heard a pair of Super Acoustas in the mid-'70s - these had a pair of side-by-side mounted PM6's in place of the usual single. Very loud and "alive", but somewhat coloured and poor bass.

That day is near or here. This line is at it's end this year, or so I hear.
