Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Please, I have a question about the kernel types (standard, advanced LL and RT) of the new version of moode (3.6). I use a hifiberry digi pro + board with coax output for my DAC. I understand that in this way, moode works only with a transporter ... and so, does the kernel type make any difference in sound quality?

Hi bblegram, I read your post.

I also have a Hifiberry Digi+ Pro and have been playing around with several settings (among other things the advanced kernel settings).
In my setup (the RPI and Digi+ Pro attached to a dedicated linear power supply connected to a separate Tentlabs DAC) I can't hear any difference between the default and advanced kernel settings.

This advanced kernel settings will have effect on other sound cards then the Digi+ Pro (which can be found as extra settings/advanced driver options in Audio config if supported).

I am hoping Moode Audio to have some other settings to influence the audible performance of the Digi+ Pro (i don't mean equalisation but untouched sound settings like for instance the sound signature settings Rune Audio has which influence latency and other kernelparameters which have an audible effect on the sound).

These settings, from Rune Audio, have an enhanced audible sound quality for me. I asked Tim if he had plans to integrate as such into Moode Audio.

His answer was he will investigate if more people are asking for advanced sound signature settings: read http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/pc-based/271811-moode-audio-player-raspberry-pi-762.html

I think you will be interested too :xfingers:

Tim, sorry for asking again.
Is there any way to requantize 16 bit to 24, leaving DSD files untouched?
Using Sox upsampler (24/* option), it converts DSD -> PCM.

Thanks

Hi,

I've looked at whether selective resampling would be possible with MPD and I can't see a way to do it. The problem is that when MPD automatically plays the next track in the Playlist it doesn't provide a method to do something before that track starts playing for example turning off resampling.

Another issue is that MPD has to be restarted after changing any of the settings in mpd.conf file, and the resampling format is in this file.

The capability to do "selective resampling" might be a good feature request to post to MPD Github.

Sabre driver?

Thank you very much. :)

I have new driver for RR kernel and works fine so far.

Hi Maywind - do you have more details on the new sabre 9018 driver you have? I have been using Moode (various versions up to 3.6 with Advanced RT kernel) with no problems on dacs based on ess 9023, 9018, and 9028 with no problems using the RpiDac, or Buffalo, or Mamboberry settings provided by Tim. Does the new driver provide access to any of the filters, or hardware volume control etc in the ESS chips? Thanks Adrian

moOde -based Audio System

Hi Tim, Hi everyone

I've registered @diyAudio, and so happy to introduce my project.
I designed a full-HD audio player powered by moOde player.

This is still a concept model yet, but for further development, I want your feedbacks.

Very nice! IQ Audio Digital Amp+ and Alpair 6s?

I wondered if the Amp+ was too much for the Alpairs, but clearly not :)

Thank you for your comment, Zootalaws.
Yes, IQ Audio Digi AMP+ and Alpair 6M of MarkAudio.

This amp board is little 'over-spec' for Alpair units as you mentioned.
But I could find nothing but IQ Amp HAT...
If you know better one, pls let me know.

Thanks

Pi hasn't crashed. I can still access my music on a external drive with Moode. Restarting my IPad doesn't bring airplay with Moode back. I am still able to use airplay through my iPad speakers. It shows Tidal to play on the IPad, but it loses Moode after a bit. Only solution is to restart Moode.
