Moode Audio Player for Raspberry Pi

Installed the RT kernel. Now BOSS DAC is working.
Sounds as good as Volumio if not better.

Are there any other settings that I need to do to further enhance the audio?

Hi,

You might want to try one of the following:

- Set MPD resampling to 32/384. This results in PCM5122 Digital interpolation filter being bypassed

- OR -

- Set MPD resampling to disabled
- In the Customize screen experiment with various Digital interpolation settings

Hi,

I'm able to repro the issue where AIFF tags are not being picked up by MPD update. The result suggests a possible bug in 0.20.6 MPD based on log file output below.

Added to TODO list for fixes

That is what I call a fast response!
So I will wait, AIFF seems not to be that popular, so little priority for developers, but if possible I would like to stay with it....

Hi,

Tested with MPD 0.19.19 and the same log file messages appear but no issues with metadata. See attached screen shot.

There are a couple of ways to deal with this, one being to recompile MPD 0.20.6 without libsndfile and libaudiofile and just let ffmpeg handle things. I'd like to try this but it may take me a while to get through the tests.

If you want me to send you 0.19.19 binary as a work around let me know. You won't be able to set resampling because it uses a different conf file param then does 0.20.6

Hang tight with your AIFF files :)

I do not need resampling, so it would be fine for me to use MPD 0.19.19 until everything works again...

I agreed with the donation system and I made some donations of course. But the latest version is changing the principles. Some sheep will pay, others are more flexible and use alternative products.

I agree with others on this forum that $10USD for the time and effort Tim has put into MoOde and the support he provides through this and other forums is unheard of value.

Not sheep, but discerning audio enthusiasts who understand a great value when they see it.

I hope your search for other alternatives is successful.:sing:

I couldn't agree more. I just installed 3.5 on an older Pi2 with a new HifiBerry DAC+ Pro. Listening to radio while configuring. Everything just works.

I have donated and will install 3.5 soon.

I have a few thoughts about the new subscription approach which others may wish to comment on.

I see the advantage of the subscription method is Tim remains motivated and we continue to get updates to this great software.

I see the disadvantage is the new user cannot try it out unless they donate. Someone who hasn't used it before is likely to be attracted to runeaudio or volumio as they are free. Slowly over time the user base will diminish and Tim's motivation to update Moode will similarly diminish.

To avoid this happening, I suggest an older version (eg 3.1 currently) remain available to download for free so people can try it out. Those who want to remain on the cutting edge like most of us here will continue to donate.

+1. I used v3.1 first and without hesitation, supported v3.5.

Thanks for replying.
I cannot find "MPD resampling" setting.
Under MPD configuration screen, SoX resampling is 'disabled' at the moment.
SoX quality is set to 'high quality'.

After using Volumio for a month, now I am missing a few features with MoOde.
1. Search for radio stations (looking for Hindi/ Bollywood stations)
2. Any way to play an entire album from Library. At the moment, I have to go to each album and add each track manually to the Playback.
3. Option to add tracks to my own playlist

I also noticed that some songs in some albums are appearing twice.
I am using a NAS as the source.

The sound though is good - no issues.

SoX resampling is MPD resampling.
Adding entire albums has always worked for me, as does adding tracks to an existing playlist (although it looks like editing playlists is broken right now).

To add an album, click on the Library action menu Add and play (all) or Add, replace, play (all)

Enabled Sox resampling to 32/384. By default SoX quality is set to "High quality"

The volume went to zero. I had to bring it back to 100 manually.

In "Audio devices", Driver options is set to "slave disabled".

In Library, I cannot find any 'action menu'.

This is a new one for me. Where is the "Library action menu"? When I want to add a whole album I click on the album cover graphic at the bottom of the screen. Is this the same thing?

This is great tip. I was able to add the entire album.

Why are you still here?

Does "Newton" ring a bell? To every action there is always opposed an equal reaction: or the mutual actions of two bodies upon each other are always equal, and directed to contrary parts (law III).

Another question: Would Tim stop developing Moode if nobody pays? If he would depart the project all the previous work would have been useless, so he will not drop Moode. I think Moode is a good reason for a donation, but the users should decide to spend money. There are people around who accept being a milk cow, but some prefer to keep the control.
