What is wrong with op-amps?

Now you're really confusing me. John's posse believes in some of those things, in at least one case strongly. What have Jan, SY, I, and others done but criticize the same stuff? Do you have us all confused with some one else?

BTW if you think I have something to sell you are sorely mistaken, I post here solely as a DIY'er and could care less whose op-amps you roll it is of no financial benefit to me.

I'm old enough to not judge anyone by association. Since you brought up the subject, I can complain that you sometimes superficially read someone's post, then reply in some unwarranted way, preferably spiced up with a few insults. However I noticed that if one takes the time, a few posts later you will either make your point or admit your mistake. The other members you mentioned would rather submit themselves to alien probing than admit anything.

Same for John. I'm not gonna blame him personally for something that one "posse" or the other does.

Obviously the later, but you knew that.

I did not know that. I suspected it, but I have seen people with both problems. Also, it does not make sense to me at face value that you would find the latter type of claim not credible. I have heard lousy digital copies made on early technology data converters. I could easily believe some people would deem such copies to be unacceptable. Many professional recording and mastering engineers would agree. Many still remember that distressing era.

Bear I realize that two parties experiencing the same thing at the same time is the only way to make any progress. It didn't matter who was at Jan's recording demo or how careful they were and your stories of you and your buddies not being able to make a digital copy of a master tape are simply not credible to me.

Eh?
My stories of me and my buddies making copies? When was that?
I suggest that Jan do that. And compare.
No preconceived notions at all.

You see, Scott, I don't HAVE any preconceived notions, and prejudices.
I do have experiences that I can relate, and some understandings and insights.

It does matter who was at ETF and what was going on... luckily I know quite a few people who were there, and I got info from them. (in the context of that topic, it matters)

Are you aware how few watts were being used?
Also, it is now apparent why the speakers were splayed the way they were in the photo.

You see, no preconceived notions about that either. I asked questions, did not draw false or unwarranted conclusions.

And I stand by my statement that the recording adjudged the "best" well may have been the "best" as a function of the speaker & playback electronics. Otoh it could still turn out to have been the best regardless of the speaker & playback electronics.
