The majority of the capsaicin in a pepper is found in the seeds and membranes. I would say probably 75-85%. On the other hand, reducing a pepper from 100,000 scoville Bottom level Hab) to 25,000 scoville doesn't make much difference in perceived heat for most people.
We are very partial to Red Savina versions of the habanero. They have a fruitiness in the flavor that's addictive. Jim Campbell used to make a smoked Red Savina powder for his Mild To Wild chile company, now sadly closed. We stocked up and froze some, breaking it out selectively.
Yeah, many have been licensed to grow it, but when Jim sold off the company, the smoked red savina powder was not continued by the new owners. So we hoard.
I have some Habs that I dried in the oven that are like puff-balls. Crush one in a zip-loc bag and sprinkle lightly for a nice bite. They are lovingly referred to as "Death Powder".
Ron, I am wondering something. A fresh Jalapeno, I can eat over the course of an evening as I'm a bit of a wimp, but the Habaneros we have here hurt me just to look at. One little like of the flesh keeps my Capsacin buds happy till bedtime and beyond. I can't use the peppers fresh, I have to dilute it somehow.
The habaneros I get are weakish, but hotter than the hottest jalapeno. It's a consistent, fruity heat. I wouldn't eat a whole one alone, too hot for that, but I can eat a chunk the size of a dime (thicker, though) with no real ill effects.
The jalapenos range from "meh" to a pretty good zing, I have to taste them to make sure they will work in salsa that I want top have a bite. I'm not a big fan of green pepper flavor TBH, but it will do in a pinch.
I haven't eaten a lot of really hot stuff in a year or so, but I am usually ok with hot sauces that aren't "extract" sauces, but I've never had anything hotter than a habanero that wasn't extract based.
Considering that the worlds hottest pepper (Carolina Reaper habanero, 2013) was measured at over 1,500,000 scoville, I don't see why anyone would bother with extracts any more.
I'll take a few to SC tomorrow for friends to try.
more likely "swim"
my son left Hilton Head (w wife and 2 kids) 2 days early.
i don't have an ounce of the Magyar in my ancestry, but i love the pungency and mild spicy-ness of paprika -- at the bottom of the Scoville scale. What can be better than saffron and paprika?
Poke (Poh-kay)
1. Ling Cod
2. Salmon
Poke is awesome, especially when I get a few kilos of free local tuna.

I'm with you 🙂 .......... Ancho chili powder in my beans !

Hard to get fresh tuna at a decent price here so I guess I'll suffer with what I can get. 😉 The Ling Cod has a nice firm texture.Poke is awesome, especially when I get a few kilos of free local tuna.
Once, I gave my GF a gift set of hammer drill, masonry bits, rawl pugs and picture hooks.Pickle.
Honey woke up to a new toy in her August stocking. Julienne peeler.
Best thing I ever did.
Dan.

Mmm, let me think.
Besides truffle, vanilla and totally wonderful cinnamon sticks, among a few there's e.g. birambie, cardamom, and peteh beans.
Stink beans have a totally unique fragrance and flavor, highly addictive (plus really good for high BP folks and helps to get rid of mosquito bite itch)
Saffron + paprika powder is a waste of the saffron imo. (for extra coloring of paella, I use colorante alimentario from Spain)
Speaking of bugs, newcomers on Curaçao can be recognised by the ample red spot count on their legs. The biggest local creep is the Praga, a miniature sandfly who's bite will itch several days on end.
A Deet-base deterrent keeps them out of bounds, but Deet can't be used for an unlimited time period. Clove ciggies/oil are great for soothing tooth ache, but rubbing skin with clove oil keeps any critter at large while also smelling appetising (not exactly true for a Deet breakfast, lunch or dinner)
Other option is having dinner in a bug-free lounge area.
(I received word a week ago that obtaining a building permit for the addition of a lockable 90' x 140' boat dock would be no problem. The edge of the coral reef, with living coral, is at 350' distance from the cliff at that location)

Spanish cooking sites say that it's filler plus E102 and E110, I would probably stick with more saffron. I did get a good laugh one site that claimed to be a cook's resource suggested saffron as a natural colorant that added no flavor of its own. 🙄

Sure, a 2 ounce bottle only costs a dollar, mine reads E102 plus corn flour as filler.
For a zero E102 diet one would have to skip bags of potato chips, candy, various dairy products, etcetera. Pretty much all the stuff I don't eat/buy.

Around here not that hard actually, it's a personal thing I keep looking for reasons industrial food at times makes me nervous and on edge. The E102 (FDA Yellow No. 5, Tartrazine) has been in question for exacerbating ADHD like symptoms. This might be total BS but it's easy to humor myself. It's certainly possible industrial food simply triggers instinctive impulses.
Best of luck with your dock, what are you going to fill it with? Don't laugh, we decided to join our friends from Germany on a Caribbean cruise in January to celebrate my retirement. I hope at least this time the shrimp are not molded surimi.

Nothing wrong with a Caribbean cruise, or any other, I'd just skip all but the dining table.
A jetty on one side, sand beach area on the other. My g/f likes to swim, so do dogs, more hygienic in the tropics to have dogs swim in the ocean a couple of times a week, requires a beach. Wavebreaker sides will keep the sand from washing away, periodic beach sand refills cost wasted cash. I've asked for an annual berth quotation at the marina of the place you played golf, but they wanted silly money per square feet, there's next to no berthing for bigger boats on the island. Several marinas are government owned, e.g. the one at the Caracas bay. Only a tiny part of the marina is still used for commercial fishing, but the entire complex falls under the ministery of agriculture, livestock and fisheries (LVV), only locals (native) are eligible for recreational boat berthing. Enough to make Fidel C. proud. A dock that can be all-side (en)closed enables provisions which make it impossible to steal a boat, saves on insurance fees plus doesn't make it obligatory to relocate a boat in the hurricane season. Also makes the backyard completely impenetrable, plus offers a pretty lit picture at night. Makes a change from pitch dark after seven, and enables me to safely sleep outside. (I also regard it a good investment, over the years I've been a trendsetter on more than one instance. To date, the big dollars are stil pouring into the Caribbean, and likely to continue. I could spend a million dollars, and the place would still be lots cheaper per square feet than a waterfront property at the Spanish water. Having wavebreakers and a jetty installed, plus some sand poured doesn't cost all that much)

Jacco, you are doing well! The Turkish shop sells "zaafraan" which undoubtedly is something else, costs nothing, but is plant material without E numbers.
