So unless I'm mistaken, you need: a 6th gen Intel processor with a specific set of features, plus 16GB of RAM, to play music.

Call me underwhelmed, but I can play fantastic sounding music on a PC with a 1.2GHz processor and 1GB of RAM.

I don't see how this has assumed the status of 'Best Player Eva!' from some very subjective listening.

Surely it's just your opinion, as is your favourite speakers, your favourite amp and your favourite food?

JAAT (Just Another Audiofool Toy).

I'll stick with Linux and MPD. Can't fault it.

+1 ...I am not disputing the sound quality but it is a 'niche' player, the hardware requirements are OT for most users...

Тhere are nice old version, for example 5.80 SQZ. Works with old hardware.
And sound is better than Linux and MPD. I did try a lot of hardware and software players ( Windows, Mac, Linux) and so far Bug Head is the best. And this is not only my opinion. Every time, when I try different software and hardware, I listen with friends and random guests.
