Yes, no problem, the loss is less than previous one, see attached. The last one shows both ears can hear equally (almost) when one channel is silence.

Yes, UF4007 can be used instead. The purpose is to protect the grid during cold start, and is reversed bias when running so it should not interfere with the signal.
