Funniest snake oil theories

You are a factor of a thousand out. It's the article which I DID post the correct link to.

Without a link, it is just your word against mine.

Please let me show you an example of the esoteric art of properly documenting a claim:

http://www.douglasconnection.com/Furutech-DeMag-LP-DISC-and-Cable-Demagnetizer-FUDeMag.htm

"The minute amount of ferrous material in the pigment causes LPs to become magnetized. Testing at the Tokyo Nanotechnology center with a IHI Gauss meter showed that after an LP was treated with the deMag the magnetic field of the LP was lowered from 620~630 nT to 572~582 nT (nanotesla: a unit of magnetic field strength,1 Tesla = 10,000 gauss) "

One other person who tried to confim this posts:

http://www.whatsbestforum.com/showthread.php?2701-Reviewing-the-Furutec-Demag&p=36819&viewfull=1#post36819

"Who knows if there was not stray magnetics that caused that tiny difference. I searched for the "IHI Gauss meter." After 10 minutes I gave up as nothing came up. Maybe there is such a company but unless I can find it and look at the specs for the meter, I can't go by anything they say."

HMI would make sense, Hirst Magnetic Instruments are a serious Gauss meter maker
AFG100 High Sensitivity Fluxgate Probe

The linked probe could measure 500nT, but you would have to null out the Earths field first

This is portable commercial grade equipment. It turns out that since 2003, SOTA has involved measurements in the Femto-Tesla range.

http://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/1307/1307.2357.pdf

There are 10E+04 Teslas in a gauss, and Femto- denotes 10E-15. So SOTA gauss meters are in some reliable down into the 10E-19 range.

above reference says: "In 2003, Romalis and coworkers used this discovery to demonstrate an ultra-sensitive AM with sub-femtotesla level sensitivity"

Here's what it takes to use them reliably:

"The measurements were performed in a two-shell magnetically shielded room (ETS-Lindgren, Glendale Heights, IL) with a dc shielding factor of about 500."

The magnetometer itself incorporates 3-axis magnetic fields to cancel out ambient magnetism.

So, it seems like nano-Gauss measurements should be a slam dunk for a SOTA lab with highly controlled conditions.

Typical audiophile use of LPs takes place in a vastly simpler and less-controlled environment.

In short we have yet another case where SOTA measurements lack a logical connection with real-world Audio.

Planned obsolence today.....accu vaccum cl., where motor, accus are still working; but pcb with atmel chip /rpm reg, charge/ is refusing to work.... 2days after warranty 😀

For creating unecessary waste somebody should go to jail 😡

Same experience here with AEG vac cl. First I replaced the accupack for 100Euros then I discovered the charger was idle.
So I breadboarded a charger around that and it works again😀

If phono cartridges were sensitive to small magnetic fields, audiophiles would be writing about how to use a magnetic compass to align the turntable North, East, South, West.

Here's the obviously BS explanation: Since the LP is rotating at 33.33 rpm, its microscopic magnetic field is inducing a .55555 Hz signal into the phono preamp's input. The earth's far larger magnetic field is not changing its orientation at nearly the same high frequency, and so it causes no problems.

How to fill your wallet with the ramblings of a confused mind.

(hope you don't mind I gave up after page 45)

Actually, I previously predicted it in post 8428.

"Interestingly enough the book itself explains why many on this forum won't touch the book, not even on a bet. It contains information that will not confirm their biases that they are uber menschen who are accurate and objective in all that they do."

Another high end audio scam, like record and CD demagnetizes, pure adulterated BS....

Funnily where I was working last week they were having a laugh at directional cables and other esoteric audiophile beliefs in the canteen at dinner time at the nest table, in fact I would go as far as saying they were scoffing at the ridiculous things that have become truths to the hardcore audiophile believer... A sad reflection on the hobby when some of the silly beliefs encourage scorn and ridicule....

Regarding grounding boxes... firstly here you can see what is inside them...
Entreq Tellus grounding - Page 169

then for the uninitiated here is some information regarding the ground myth...
http://sites.ieee.org/ctx-emcs/files/2010/09/Archambeault-Ground-Myth.pdf

Of course if any believer has ANY scrap of information supporting their operation I would be appreciate it (not holding my breath, been asking for 9+ years for info on BQP's and haven't seen anything yet)

Which is what was in the Fremer article, which I linked to. You will note you got Gauss and Tesla confused. Of course rather than check what you wrote you would rather engage in a bit of pigeon chess, so I'll leave you to it.

Where is the ground/earth?

That's one irony, because unless you bury it, the box's wired contents still have to be wired to a good earth ground some place. And, the box is very poorly designed for burying - a proper ground rod is made vastly differently and BTW a ton cheaper.

Does the buyer have to supply his own soil? Obviously, the box can't work with no soil in it.

The soil, which seems to be some kind of synthetic potting soil, was removed for the photograph to be made.

Plan B: Copper ground clamp from home improvement store - < $5.

Which is what was in the Fremer article, which I linked to. You will note you got Gauss and Tesla confused.

The link was broken, and had no supporting text, which others also noted. So I had to decode an incompetent, unchecked post to figure it out.

Furthermore, when I mentioned magnetic fields measured in gauss, I said it was qualified by being a factoid that I remembered, not necessarily a reliable fact.

Of course rather than check what you wrote you would rather engage in a bit of pigeon chess, so I'll leave you to it.

I shortly on my own posted an accurate quote as a clarification, in my usual quest for accuracy.

The post I'm responding to seems to be more attention-getting, hit-and-run tactics. It obfuscates a broken link, distortion of the true facts, and absence of any supporting text. What was it that Henry Ford II (The Deuce) said so many times - "Never complain, never explain". Edsel was the good brother.

Furthermore, as was also shown, the link was to a false claim by Fremer. The linked text had the effect of letting someone else (Fremer of all people! - bad choice) make the personal attack.

He's attacked me on his site several times, and the other times may be better choices than the one you picked, if that is what floats your boat!

I hope you have learned that proof by authority is a common fallacy, and using Fremer for your authority is as least as bad as betting on the lottery.

hate to get back

Shame I totally lack vision and didn't hang on to the remains of my family members, instead of dumping them into the ocean.
Picking ground bone for a DIY ground box might work just as well, but if it doesn't still leaves post-mortum electrocuting my parents.

Of course, in either case I would proclaim in the loudest fashion it's the best thing since strawberry flavored rubbers, and inspire millions of deranged audiophiles to visit their parents for a workshop.

Creepy, moi ?
