I'm considering a Kit :) Yess I know, it's getting close to 'too late'.
Trying to decide between this one and the Modulus 86.
NO idea which performs 'better'.
Designs are different though .
Wondering why the BOM is significantly more $ than the modulus BOM.
Although your PCB prices are 1/2.
As a beginner, it IS difficult to select from amp kits one has neither seen/nor heard.

Sorry, I should have been more clear...

Tha alternative is between a normal group buy for a proven design or an experimental one for an improved but untested design.

I cannot afford alone the cost of a prototype (it would be more than 500€) so I'll start later a new GB for 2.0 beta boards.

So this group buy will be, as it started, a normal one with slight mods to the tested boards.

Tonight I'll post the final layout of version 1.25 and tomorrow I'll start sending PayPal invoices.

Sorry again for every possible misunderstanding.

You're still perfectly in time. ;)

The GB is open until the actual order is made but price will be fixed tonight.

Both would be a good choice.

Measurement wise the Modulus is a better performer but, while I never listened the Modulus, I'm pretty confident the Fremen Edition sounds as good if not better.

Design and PCB layout are the most important thing but a not small part of final result depends also on components selection.

IMHO the Modulus neglected this last part.

Different choices...

My BOM use very good quality industrial parts carefully selected for their performance (as per datasheets data AND listening tests) and not for their cost.

Tom is selling his boards while I'm organizing group buys.

To be clear boards are not offered at pure cost (but we're very near to) since they must pay also the DIY Audio donation and my time in organizing the group buy.

If I would count also the developing costs, in fact, boards are offered below cost...

Layout 1.5

This is the (almost) final layout 1.5 that will be shipped:

I've managed to include several improvements from the previous eperimental version without redesigning the board so that changes in layout are minimal.

Now begins for me the final optimization phase and tomorrow I'll send Paypal invoices, price is fixed at 30€ for each kit of 2 PCBs.

GB is still open until final order is done.

You'll find the updated files in my Google Drive, links in the opening post.

There are links for Mouser projects too.

Hello, just a question: i already have a pair of 300VA 22V transformers and i would like to use them for my amp. But they have both a single 22V winding.
Could i feed + and - AC power inputs on a board using the same transformer winding or a separate winding for each AC power input onboard are strictly needed?

Sorry for my bad english: i wanted to say that both my transformers have a single 22V secundary. Can i use only one of them to feed a board's power inputs?

Hi Luca,

Sorry...no.

You will need two secondaries.

Maybe you could 'emulate' them using both transformers and then parallel boards...

Like that:

But I can't guarantee it will actuall work.

That's exactly what i was thinking about. It seems logical to me: what could go wrong?
In a dual secondaries transformer, aren't they connected to the same single primary as well, at a certain point inside the transformer? That way, i simply would move that point towards the output...
