Yeah of course. Just like they offer pcbs separately for the F6 or you can get a F6 kit with transformers.
Just make it so the Sony fets must be sold as part of a kit not separately. However you can still buy as many Sony amp pcbs (without Sony Fets) as you want without restriction.

Vfet pcb's are smaller scale production i guess :Present:

I need 2 pair V-Fet to, it would be great if someone would lead me to find the latest circuit. with the 2SJ28 & 2SK82
I am not sure if there is such a circuit which would work with one pair fet.🙂
Greetings 🙂

Yes one pair is ok for mono chanel just don't sleep at night:

Kind regards 😀

For more informations & schematic search in Vfet Part 2 thread
stay in tune for last news from Mr Pass and patience

I do follow that thread, I only saw some layout and some ideas from DIY members . Nothing concrete.
I do have a set (2 PAIR) V-Fet for other project in case I do not like the sound of that it would be good to have a backup (project) option.
Also if I run the V-Fet in class A a few years later need to be replace them.
Greetings 🙂

Amplifier are just one part of audio chain for total satisfaction with sound is always something to do with speakers ,
horns ,DAC , CD player , preamplifier or vinyl tourntable and acoustic of room....before swap to another amplifier.
Normaly not to high biased V-fet class A can play every day say 20 ~ 30 years and more period
i use solid state Jean Hiraga amplifier from 80's
index
and after electrochemical psu condensers update its ready to play for half of century score.
All circuits from NP have in rush current stress protection by thyristor that
for safety of semiconductors and the same or better long term enjoyment :house:
300B valve are few years device need replace after that time.
Hope you like it your new diy amplifier & have fun :note:

V-fet's for Nelson amp build

Hello all,
I am new to amp building and just got my hands on 4 2SK82 KD-33 and 4 2SJ28 KF-33. The KD and KF do not match the numbers of KE in the picture of Mr. Pass's picture on the part on build. Will these work and what is that number designate?

Thanks Salguod

New PSUs for my VFET CSX1s

Finishing my projects.
This thread was already sunken 7 pages deep, so I will revive it with some photos.😀
To completely finish my CSX1's I have rebuilt my PSUs in separate chassis. They first were in an ugly old 19" cabinet.
It's a lot of work, no connectors any more inside only soldered connections...
Also made some nice 'audiophile like' cables for connecting the PSU to the CSX1.
After a month or more without listening to the VFET's, I must say they still are very natural sounding amps. But the CSX1 has some drawbacks the others don't have, very low gain and low damping factor.
My high biased Aleph J is now my second best amp and competing for number 1 position! It's such a complete amp, good detail, finest highs, great soundstage. F5T v3 with 2SK1530/J201 has gained lots of respect also, this last month.
So my list now is:
1 CSX1
2 Aleph J
3 F5T v3
4 F6
5 F5
6 ACA

Sorry for bad quality photos from smartphone...

Yes, the F6 has gone down on my list... It's a good amp but it's a bit flat, has less magic. The highs on Aleph J and F5Tv3 are more present and refined.
The F6 has great bass, soundstage is big. But Aleph J has all of that and just a bit more detail and warmth...
Download high res 'You look good to me' from Oscar Peterson Trio and listen that on Aleph J and F5Tv3 and it really rocks on these amps.
But it's personal, it also has to do with my psycho, my moods, I guess. :hypno2:
Maybe half a year later my list changes again 😀

I drive these amps with my DCB1 and DDDAC1794 with 8 parallel non oversampling DAC chips.

I know you use the Toshiba's in the F5TV3 like I do. Are you using the IRF's in the F6? Perhaps that's the reason?

Do you have any problem driving the F6 with its 14db gain with a DCB1?

You may wish to consider building a transformer or auto former based passive to use. Really gives a very natural sound with my F5TV3.
