In view of the above, what constitutes a blind test?
Not that.
Please do read my Linear Audio article on how to set up actual listening tests. I even cover the old "non-audiophile wife in the kitchen" chestnut.
Peculiarly, other wives of other Oppos owners have responded similarly - and they are not audiophiles.

I think we've covered that territory elsewhere on any number of topics. BTW the values in my circuit were specifically selected to form a critically damped two pole system which includes the unity gain BW of the op-amp so they are different for each amplifier and the frequency is typically not 20kHz. The purpose is that an op-amp can not be an integrator at high frequencies and the output impedance rises allowing EMI from the DAC at the inputs. The effectiveness is easily demonstrated with a network/spectrum analyzer.
If you can not devise an experiment to separate this effect from any other there is no blind test to evaluate the effectiveness of a different circuit.
BTW the idea was summarily dismissed by none other than Dr. Richard H Small claiming that a 5534 and R/C feedback was all you need, NIH.

This may seem a little off topic, but I am going to comment from my area of expertise.
My family has been in the automotive paint and body business for 25 years. I myself started 25 years ago but couldn't work for family. Later I started my own business and have been doing this for nearly 17 years.
Because of the type of service I do, I run into a lot of my "competition". I like to ask them questions because I have learned a lot that way. The funny thing is, unless they are friends of mine they never ask me questions. Now I don't always learn from them, sometimes I simply learn they have no idea what they are doing and talking about in fact I am certain many of them thought I was stupid for asking questions.
So here's something I have been saying for a long time and my Father-in-Law is a prime example of this.
"You cannot learn anything when you know everything." People who speak in terms of absolutes completely discredit themselves.
Many times over the years I have adjusted the way I do things, whether it was procedure, products or something else. Some times I revert back because I found that was a superior _______.
One thing I have also found is the "professionals" who are the biggest "know it alls" are the biggest fools!
People who are closed minded are unlikable and their only friends are the same super unlikable fools!
Someone like Joe deserves our RESPECT EVEN if we disagree about some "measurable" quality of sound! (I'd like to see some measurements showing differences in speaker cable, but that's not going to happen either.)
I for one appreciate and respect you and your work Joe!!!! 😀

There are lots of published measurements of speaker cables clearly demonstrating audible differences, especially when used with amps and speakers with pathological output/input impedances.

The context of open minded here usually includes alien intervention, routine violation of the most basic laws of physics, etc. Would you recommend your clients try water powered engines or wrap copper foil and quartz crystals around their carburetors?
As mentioned above I proposed the cap at the DAC output in 1992 with a hypothesis based on engineering and actual measurements of the results. I make no claim to be the first and would love to see a prior use of this technique.

OK cool...go win 1million dollars then!

Sorry to say Randi was ill advised, pathological amp/cable/speaker combinations have been known for decades the worst resulting plain out and out oscillation. It would be simple to rig any such test if arbitrary components are allowed. Or maybe you think an amp oscillating at 20MHz can't possible affect the sound?
The fact is you CANNOT PROVE it does or does NOT sound better, regardless of measurements! I should have said "measurements" or lack thereof don't prove a sound improvement!
In fact what sounds good or better to you might sound like crap to me! I think any and all discussions should be respectful. The fact is nobody is right 100% EVER! The entire human race's history is absolute fact of that!
In fact what the history of the human race proves is he is NEVER right 100% of the time!

Which measurement will it change would you say?
I'm not going to argue about something I don't know enough about to argue. I actually do believe cables make a difference the fact is there is plenty of controversy over that subject and that is why I brought it up.
I will go back to my area of expertise! Ford started building a number of vehicles with aluminium hoods as well as other panels including deck lids. Those parts are notorious for corrosion issues which bubble up the paint and ruin the paint job on those parts, and really ruin the paint job. For those of you who don't know a factory paint job is worth $4-5,000. However Ford's engineers did not anticipate the problem, will NOT WARRANTY the problem, and as of the last couple years, (I'd have to check my records for the most recent repair for an exact date), they haven't fixed the problem.
The fact is this not a hard problem to fix. The coatings technologies are very advanced. Just like headlights which turn yellow, they simply refuse to fix the problem, for whatever reason.
But the engineers Ford employs are pretty sharp people that have access to a VERY LONG history of coatings technology. So it begs the question, why is this a problem?
I wonder if those engineers deserve respect...well I think automobile engineers make some very stupid designs.
But that doesn't mean I don't respect what they do right...which is a lot more than I could do!

All bets are off, you have a system operating in a non-linear un-characterizable regime, why would you ever try to make any conclusions based on this? In my experience driving bipolar inputs beyond their linear range causes lots of THD and IM distortion.

That's OK, just maybe participate in a real DBT listening test or is that asking too much?

Riight. Yeah guess Ford weren't aware of that. Or perhaps the Engineers were given a set of constraints to work to that meant that had to chose a particular coating or maybe the production QC was not what it was meant to be. Could be many things. Given that Al and Steel is a recipe for galvanic corrosion it will certainly not have been ignored. Over ruled by the bean counters most certainly.
https://www.autobody-review.com/blog/mustang-hood-paint-problems-and-what-to-do-about-it Well the ford TSB claims contamination on the production line/supply chain. Whether you wish to believe this is of course up to you.
Do other industries have their equivalent "wife in the kitchen" anecdotes....
Me I think the wives in question are being neglected, as their husbands play with the next silly Audiophile mod and are just trying to rekindle the halcyon days of courtship by showing an interest...

Yes. Remember that the Ur-Wife-In-The-Kitchen involved a horse.
Now of course not being cynical, I am sure all these wives in the kitchen know nothing of what their Audiophile husband is up to, so these anecdotes do prove to me with the same certainty of a full DBT that there is a lifting of veils and an increased depth in the soundstage....
Or something like that...
Now I could tell some tales about the wife in the kitchen, but this is a respectful site.🙂

Why do so many posts start with something like "I admit I don't know what I am talking about, but those of you who do know what you are talking about are being very narrow-minded and critical when you ask for rational explanations or reliable experiments to support a claim which is almost certainly wrong. Why, only last week I made my car go faster by adding crystals/decals/magic juice to it; even my wife in the kitchen noticed the improved acceleration!".
I'm clearly doing something wrong as wife is in living room listening to the main system and I've been shoved out into the kitchen 🙂
