NAD 2600 will not turn on !

Hi,
Just bought some Infinity 9.2 and installed by NAD2600 that I had stored in a dry place for 7 years and it will not even turn on.

Fuse is OK. LED does not go on even if for a fraction of second I notice during one of the attempts a slide reaction. No noise audible on speakers ?

I have good soldering knowledge on DAC and preamps but aware that power amps are another beast.

Any suggestion would be appreciated even if it has to be dealt by a technician so I can make sure the repair is fairly quoted.

Go step-by-step. Check all supply voltages, also see if there is DC present at the output point of the power stages (after L301-302 on the schem.). If everything seems all right, then your problem is very likely a dried out electrolytic cap (C401-405) in the protection circuit (IC403-TA 7317P). Replace all of those caps, and see if it is working then.

Thank you very much for quick and detailed info.

I got the service manual and located L301-302 and C401-405 on paper.

Have not yet figured out the voltage supply control, not very much used to read plans and check on the actual board but gradually getting It.

Will find some time during the week and report back.

OK, Not sure if there where several issues but right now I am blocked with the voltage selector switch (european model) which has a broken carousel holding the V shaped contacts. Two of them (one V) where pretty damaged and eventually gave up. But I can confirm that the amp's LED did go on when I was pressing on this carousel.

Googled the part number (yks11-0010) but can not get anywhere online to order it. The selector seems to be in use on other audio products and has the following markings (220 110 120 240).

Any idea where to order ? or should I just solder the right pins ?

adviced me to solder directly the pins. I have the same problem with the European power selector. Which wires have to be connected directly to run it with 240 volt?
1 = blue
2 = Green
3 = Yellow
4 = Orange
5 = Red
6 = Bown
Could it be 2 + 4 and 3 + 5 ???

Hi. Great forum for us with nostalgic HI-FI Equipment 🙂


Had the same problem on my NAD2600. Wouldn't Power on. Found that the problem was the voltage selector. The two "locking ears" that holds Down the selector plate was broken, so the selector plate loose.


I cut the ears, drilled a 2,5 med mer hole in the center of the selector plate, and secured the plate in the selector with a bolt normally used to fasten a hard-drive in a computer. Added just enough pressure on the selector plate so I could turn the selector from 110-120-22-240 volts.


Worked like a clock afterwards.

Hi there I am new to the group, hope you can help just purchased a nad 2200 with the same problem the top of the voltage selector was loose inside the casing when I opened it luckily the v pins were there also, but not sure how to proceed. Can I just solder the pins,if so which connections do I solder them to for 240v. Tried to put the v pins back and the top of the switch turned on and brew the fuse so must have put pins in wrong place. Any help would be much appreciated.
