Progress! I have locks on both Buffalo II boards, but music on one channel only. Is there anything else that might cause this before I start looking at the IvyIII output of the missing channel?
Are the mute lights off on both?
Yes, both off and both lock lights are rock solid.
LED3 on Hermes not lit though.
Are you guys any closer to having put some documentation together yet?
In the meantime, can you explain the function of the 5v_IN on the BBB Hermes please?
thanks,
James

Ahh that makes good sense, and works out very nicely for fitting in my case. Thanks for the quick reply 🙂The 5V_IN on Hermes-BBB can be used to power BBB instead of the power jack on BBB.
@DuffyMoon There is really no difference between the Cronus and any other PCM/DSD source - so the only thing I can suggest is to double check your wiring or DAC configuration.
Thanks. I just wanted to rule out configuration errors.
I'll give it a thorough inspection today.

You could very definitely still have configuration errors - but since you have music at one DAC it seems the Cronus/Hermes are working as planned. So I would concentrate my effort down the line. 🙂 There is likely just some small error in wiring or DAC config.
Ooooh, music is playing here!
Just thrown together for now, but working first time and sounding great so far 🙂

OK, I just tried the left channel DAC with SPDIF and both it and the IvyIII are fine. There must be something that I'm missing. The SPDIF switch is set to off and the other DIP switches are set as they were before (for SPDIF dual-mono output).
I have connected DCK, D1 and D2 to both DACs and GND is connected between them (as the left channel DAC shares a Placid with the Cronus).
Should I be connecting D1 to one DAC and D2 to the other?
I'm still a little worried about LED3 not lighting. It definitely works and is in the correct way round.

OK, I'm an idiot.
After taking everything apart and reconnecting (making sure that there was continuity on the data lines) everything is working perfectly! Still no LED3 lit, but that obviously doesn't matter.
Now if I could just get Botic to remember my remote storage location and get mpdroid working...

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

high position will allow you to not use additional wires if connecting to B3
I take it you mean using mating connectors like between hermes and cronus.
That works for the BIII, I have the BIII-SE and the pins don't mate up between the cronus and BIII-SE. 🙁 So, I will be using U.Fl. connectors. Also, have teleporters to try out at some point.
