Reference DAC Module - Discrete R-2R Sign Magnitude 24 bit 384 KHz

Yes, it echo back every thing I type (when I turnoff the "Local echo")

You should read the implementation thread, I think a few of the members covered it there (I had also put together a combo that cost less than 5USD that you can implement as part of your chassis build)

Your current adapter is outputting serial TTL. You need the ~1USD adapter (MAX3232) to convert from TTL to RS232 signals. I'm using that and it's working just as well as my PC com port.

My mistake to ordered a wrong adapter, I will order one of suggested ones in implementation post - good source, very bad when I not count it yet :)
And the combo look interest, could you give me the link (group buy?)
Thanks!

I am having trouble setting up Volumio i2s out on Rpi2. There is no support on the volumio site and the DAM isn't an option in the dropdown i2s settings. The "generic" setting doesn't connect. My wires are connected to the DAM properly and I am at a dead end searching forums, can anyone here lend a hand?

Robert, pm me. Don't want to clutter up this thread.

Soren,

You wrote "My plan is to do DoP".

I would like to confirm you only support DoP and not DSD native?

Kohjin

DoP is only a method to transport the DSD signal disguised inside something that looks like a PCM signal (and thus can be handled e.g. by USB) see http://dsd-guide.com/dop-open-standard

It is then to the DAC what to do with the DSD data after extracting it from the DoP signal (i.e. to process it as native DSD of convert it to PCM).

The postage is ridiculous

****************** NOW TAKING ORDERS ********************

Thanks for all the nice words and interest. The board is now in production and are shipping from stock. Final pricing is:

0.05% resistor version USD 170 / EUR 137
0.02% resistor version USD 235 / EUR 190
0.01% resistor version USD 325 / EUR 263

Shipping cost and any sales tax and/or other local taxes to be added.

dam1021 Product Range - *NEW* - Audio Products - Products for American and Asia markets.
DAC module*NEW*ready for orders Soekris Europe - You Soekris Provider for EU and European markets.

Anybody can now order the dam1021 R-2R DAC board from the two webshops.

The costs for the boards are fine, but the cost of delivery with VAT added is ridiculous. For Cyprus, delivery is just short of e100!

If order is from US, one has to add import tax+VAT!

Delivery to import tax free countries is also around e100.

There must be cheaper ways, such as using the postal system with insurance, otherwise international trade will be 'dead'.

Please consider. For as long as tax and delivery cost the same as the item, I shall not buy one. Use Twisted Pear as an example for comparison.

Don’t think fmak is implying the cost of the board, or the tax are the problem. Problem is shipping companies ridicules high handling fees. In many cases they value 3 minutes worth of keyboard strokes more than actually shipping the boards around the world. Postal service is more reasonable priced, both their shipping fee and import handling fees.

Edit: For those inside EU this is not a problem.

Sorry, but you need to take up taxes and custom rules with your government, we're not in charge of that.

As a dane, I would also love if I could t.ex. buy a car in germany and and just drive it in denmark, but that's not an option (we have 180% car registration tax plus the 25% VAT).

Our shipping is nowhere near EUR 100 if you live in Europe or US, but outside that I don't know, you can always buy together with others to save shipping.... And for the record, we follow the rules, we declare the correct value and don't ship as samples....

I am in Cyprus, an EU country. Delivery is just below e100. This is ridiculous as EMS or Business Post should cost much less. The Soekris board would cost over e500 in comparison to e600 or so for a finished dac such as a Teac UD501with everything sorted.

I can fly myself to UK for e130.

Even e28 for a lightweight board is ridiculous.

Hi Søren,

Re: shipment costs

I live in Europe (outside EU) and shipping costs are 95,36 eur. Do you think this is 'normal' shipping charge for small envelope? I would say no.
Sorry, no purchase for me. It's even cheaper to ask someone from f.e. Germany to re-deliver (with VAT payed) than purchase directly.

Please check your own website for delivery to Cyprus EU

Over e98. As VAT is a destination tax, why should I pay the Danish rate?

Why can't you use EMS, Business Post, or Datapost instead of the ridiculous rate quoted. I can fly to Italy for e50 from here.
