Nice work xrk971!
I didn't realize that there was 3 different songs to download, so I voted after listening to the Norah Jones song only. I quickly found my favorite but it was less obvious when listening to the other songs. Anywho, I feel there wasn't any driver that sounded especially good though. My favorite for example lacked a bit on top and had maybe a bit to much energy between 800-2000 hz region, but was overall to my ears the most balanced one without to much peaks in the treble and good balance between bass and midrange. With that said, I would add a tweeter on top to get the last two octaves.
There wasn't any baffle step filters on them drivers either right?

Thanks!
Yes, I applied the same baffle step filter on all of them as they were all mounted on the same baffle. It was a -5dB high-shelf at 850Hz with Q=0.5 for the parametric EQ setting.
I have a sneaking suspicion you liked a certain driver. One of the top 3 I think.

Ok. Good to know. 🙂
I'm guessing my choice was the Faital pro-driver? Yes? No?
C'mon! Show them results already!

I too am surprised with the A votes and wonder if in the long term the A voters would regret their choice, but in the short term clips they feel it sounds detailed and crisp. But hey, everyone has a flavor they enjoy.
I hope I voted for the most expensive one, I always feel they sound best😀
Which one would that be then ? The names of all these are a total mystery. (I don't diy speakers 😀)

I have an idea. Anyone eager to know the result can have it on a PM (goes without saying that it's under the understanding that it isn't leaked).
X could do it or if he doesn't have the time I can do it.

I think this is the most interesting thread on diyaudio ever!
What if... we could (meaning xrk971 off course😉 ), could build up a audio-database with... let say 6,5 inchers and 8 inchers to?
We could send left over drivers or/and donate some cash to X via Paypal maybe?

When are the results going to be revealed? Hopefully by today so I can buy the one I like and have them arrive by Friday.

Hey, thanks for the kind words regarding most interesting thread. 🙂
I was hoping that this would be informative and entertaining.

I think waiting until Saturday for the reveal is good - 1 week period for people to listen and vote. Regarding need to buy drivers now, all I can say is that you will have to wait a few days. Sorry. 🙂

Do rememeber you aren't listening to a driver. You are listening to a compressed recording of different drivers in XRK's foam core FAST system. That is then convolved with whatever you are listening thru.
Seems people are gaving fun, that is a good thing.

The PRV is in another class of cost being a 5 inch pro audio driver and the only one with a Nd multi slug magnet motor. $105 ea.
The others range from: $10 (Vifa TC9FD) to $32 (Faital Pro 3FE22 r16 and RS100P-4 paper cone), PS95-8 is $23 (a great price for cast frame driver with inverted surround), $27 for CHN-70, $28 for RS100-4 (aluminum).

Fair enough!
I will wait until Saturday. I don't believe many understand the amount of time it would take to create such a test so I salute you for your effort.

loose lips sink ships...
i see an impending **** storm after the reveal...
I look forward to it. Won't matter much as the excuses of listening to a speaker recorded with a Mic played off another speaker will take over. Those who aren't bothered about politics might then buy the various drivers and try them when we might otherwise have not.

I think these stats tell us a couple of interesting things:
The attrition rate of someone willing to listen to the first clip to someone willing to listen to all clips is about 2:1.
The fraction of people who download and listen to all clips vs those who vote is about 75%. Not too bad.
I would say that as of this snapshot - the pool of people who have listened to all tracks is about 60.
I think my choice of what to put on the very first clip and how that sounds may have an effect on whether folks feel like they want to go on downloading and liatening to the rest. So maybe I should in the future put a reference clip as the first download? Something from my reference system.
Hi this one for listening test interested, and thanks goes to xrk971 sharing it.
Download the "Dagger-FAST-Clip-RP-01" from within #75 this link http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/full-range/268037-fast-tl-8.html#post4192688..
Admit i haven't got the the full resolution track myself as i have with catgory 1 and 2 in this poll to compare up to as reference.
But it amaze me how good that clip sounds after all those reproduce and recording chains.
The full ranger is presented in this poll too, but the other setup has another sub and XO points.
Try if you enjoy listening that sound clip and gets amazed as i for the quality, taking degrading chains into count.
