LC: Have you experience with state of the art tube amp powering appropriate load (flat impedance above the bass range)? If yes, what was the tube amp? How did FA compare?
Hi LC, did you or any tried your board with DAC R2R from Soekris: http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vend...crete-r-2r-sign-magnitude-24-bit-384-khz.html
Could be a good match?
Thanks.

Hi all!
My power dual channel FO is done! But witch value of volume potentiometer I must take? 10k,20k,50k ?

Congratulations!LC suggests 10 K log pot.If your speakers are very sensitive you may try bigger values.Hi all!

Hi, all!
Isn't SMPS1200 an overkill? How about single/double SMPS400, aren't they good enough for the job?

That overkill sizing seems to be a tendency when using SMPS since the bias of the FO is high. The maximum constant power dissipation of the Hypex and AudioPower are quite low compared to their maximum available power therefore you need to really increase the SMPS size like using a SMPS1200 for such a small amplifier.
On the other hand Connexelectronic has power supply that are stronger and can withstand a much higher maximum constant power dissipation therefore a 500W would be fine.
My 2 cents.
Eric

I am inclined to buy this SMPS from AudioPower: DPS-400/S2-LV
Is this case good enough for two FO modules? Those heatsinks seams to be ~30x7x5cm. H2607 amp case aluminum power amplifier enclosure / chassis - $106.00 : Enjoy in your hi-fi project, diy tube amp, amplifier diy, amp diy
I won't use this amp below 300-500hz.

Looks good, pinnocchio has that SMPS tested with the First One and compared with the new DPS-500/UR (unregulated).

There's no mention of k/W, the First One needs heatsinks of 0.4 K/W or less.

Danny, yes, I red that comparision. Btw., DPS-500/UR is regulated and DPS-400/S2-LV is unregulated. They both look very nice. Sorry to not have a comparision between DPS-400/S2-LV and SMPS1200A400. Both are unregulated, same price range, but DPS-400/S2-LV seems to have better quality parts.
No, the DPS-500/UR is not a regulated one, here's an explanation of the designer.
In another thread there's a short review where it's compared with hypex SMPS for ncore.

So, they both (DPS-400/S2-LV and DPS-500/UR) are unregulated?
Thank you for links, Danny! That short review looks very impressive!

I would strongly advise against the italian producer mentioned above. I ordered a smps from them a year ago and it failed the first day of use. Sent it back, they acknowleged their fault and promised to send a new one. Never got it! Instead i got cca 10 emaill replies stating that i will get it soon. They were just taking me for a fool ( i can quote their stupid apologies...but would rather not!). I lost 350€ with them.
anybody knows if smps1200 can stand 3 first one modules?
i am not worried about volume since the will drive active speaker
with good efficiency but about power on all 3 at the same time.

@ back I have ran 4 modules from one SMPS1200A180 as shown in post #1749. I haven't tested to see how much it causes the rail voltage to sag as I was getting +/- 47V which is close enough for me. As long as you have a big enough heatsink to mount the modules it is no problem.
