Sound Quality Vs. Measurements

I am told NZ can be hard work if your face doesn't fit. Someone who is a priest from UK isn't very happy there. It seems they don't want a Brit doing that work! Funny how that should happen in a " caring " environment. I met his wife last night. She is over here sorting out her mother in her new house. Most NZ's I have met remind me of people of the early 1960's in the UK. I think I know how that works if so. I haven't met many so do not want to judge.

What I have seen of NZ it has a slightly better climate than the UK and has a wonderful alpine south island something like Norway or Scotland mixed with the Alps. The white wine is supurb. It costs more in NZ than here? Lamb is my favourite meat which is mostly organic if NZ.

North West Spain has a very similar climate. Of what I know of the Spanish people I like them a lot. The more I know the food the more I like it. The wine is better than many realise.

Careful Nigel.. when they wake up you will get the full force of middle earth.......

Well one thing I must say for the Tassie police: when they stopped me and Ian Hegglun last month for speeding (me driving) he said he'd let me go with a warning, me being from abroad and all that.

Sure enough I get this letter here in Belgium from the Tassie police saying they want me to pay $ 450 (!) for speeding, with a big red CAUTION stamped across the sheet, and the small print saying I got away with it this time. First time in my life I liked the small print ;)

If you look at room correction software, much of it suggests a 'house' curve not too different from one I saw espoused by Peter Walker of Quad. Mr. Walker's curve was a gentle continuous slope downward dropping 9 db from 20 hz to 20 khz. Many good quality modern speakers suddenly sound fine, and highly resolving if you apply such a curve.
It's called Muzak, ie department store BGM.

Oh. I 'voiced' my enclosures a decade ago. (Two ways, spherical horn for medium/treble).
The most natural result was with achieved with a slowly and constantly descendant curve. May-be 3-4dB less at 15kHz than 40Hz ?
Ok.
On another thread it is advocated to directly HF load down the output of DA pre reconstruction filter in order to cause -2dB or so at 20kHz.
To be expected this will cause reduction in downstream stages THD/IMD production.
Agreed, somewhere in there is a 'natural' sounding replay roll off characteristic that balances out THD and IMD and give nicely acceptable final in room resultant.

How far over the limit

I was fined €405 for doing 45 above the 100km/hr limit.

The gents were very lenient as I was doing a whole lot faster, on the cruise control button.
Road inbetween two waterways to/from the outer R'dam harbour area, mainly used by large trucks, totally abandoned at 11pm.
Had they followed me closely and made a picture, would have cost me my drivers license for 6 months.
I receive 200 OzzyD speed violation tickets a month average, though my g/f scores more points lately.

$450 is for up to 37km above the speed limit, 12 AUD/km.
Roughly the same as overhere.
Which is cold hard evidence : it's a GD international conspiracy !

I don't know if it is correlated with IMD (i don't think so).
My system is flat till the amp output. The descending curve is done in the passive filter.
I used mixes i knew very well (they were mines) to had listened to them in a lot of different places and tried to have a convincing result. A good balance between basses and treble, and natural cymbals. You know, no 'hisses', just the metal.

BTW, my 1" driver cut around 16Khz. (but have an impressive energy up to this point). Any attempt to add a super tweeter was a failure. Just added distortions. May-be it is because my age and the losses of my acute hearing system ?
