no news for mine ?
Hi scoutOne
Sorry for my late answer 🙁
You've got a mail in your official mailbox.

has anyone tried battery power supply for DAC and compared to dedicated one? We could use such holder and connect it to DAC:
EE4068 3 AA Battery Holder Case with on Off Switch | eBay
Its only temporary but what for is DIY🙂 Wonder how "clean power" compares.

Stixx, you have Subbu DAC and WaveIO right?
Is Subbu PSU sufficient enough to serve WaveIO (5V, 500mA)? I love its compact build and would like to pair it with converter if its enough.
Jean-Paul mentioned there is new version of PSU, maybe even better? Id love to hear your opinion as I need that last element to my chain.

New PSU is available now in the Group Buy section The original PSU delivers 250 mA max. in standard config. The new one can deliver 3 A.
A 3A onboard transformer would make it an even more expensive board and it would be quite large too. I want everything onboard normally but in this case it simply was not practical.
Could you please tell me then what to do in PSU for Subbu DAC to be able to feed 500mA WaveIO converter? Id increase size of capacitors but no knowledge for increasing output power. Maybe its not so hard? More powerful transformer? Any link? Thank you.
Other transformer that probably does not fit on the PCB, some other resistors, large heatsink. I think it won't be a wise decision to use it as it is not an LDO regulator so heat will be more than with an LDO. You could use a separate one for the device so 2 PSU's.
edit: just checked WaveIO specifications, you need the 3A board as WaveIO needs 0.5 A minimum. You could use a 1A transformer to keep it small.

Managed to finish first DAC. Soldered carefully, washed the pcb after finished soldering smd parts but sound is bad.
It sounds like a poor tuned FM station, my stomach tells me that is something related with spdif interface. Any idea, what to check ?
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

And then complain that the es9023 sounds bad. is like a message that I saw somewhere, said> the culprit left the signature on the pcb

Hi Duarte
Sorry for my late answer.
Let us know what is your SPDIF source, cable and post pics 😉
Is sound bad only on one chanel or on both chanels ?
What is your PSU ?
Those informations could help for debug 🙂

Bought a board from a forum member, sadly missing ESS9023 chip though he said it is included. Any chance you still have a spare one (+ psu board eventually)?

If you bought with PP, you can have your money back by saying the product is not conform to the transaction ! And it is not !
Well, its no big thing for me, just searching for another ES9023. The IC is so small, things happen 🙂
Well maybe for you, but not for others... there is a certain ethic here,we don't expect to be stolen by an other member ! 😱
