This is one of the rough aspects of selling DIY gear Soren (though I suspect you're very familiar with it). People tend to hold these small companies or individuals to the same standard as they would Amazon.
I guess the good part is - everyone's excited to get your board, and that's a good thing. 🙂

What about giving the US Office a break... They just got boards Monday, and the Tuesday workday haven't started there yet....

They got on it immediately. Order #100006030. Got shipment notification yesterday, and got UPS info this morning. Anticipated delivery on Friday. (This is to Wisconsin, via ground.)🙂

dam1021 R-2R DAC drawing with connector pinouts manual
Hi!
Is in the "post 901" the final and detailed manual for unexperienced DIY'ers?

Hi!
The more experienced DIY'er can get started with that, but I will also be doing a better and more detailed manual over the weekend.

Yes,
try myself to find a good ssytem to avoid shorts on the close I2S legs (black connector)... despite the plugs I found this morning (have still to solder on it thin 50 ohms coax cables ! and put some thermal isolation tubes)
PSUD2 free soft as adviced by Randystuch member elswhere helps a lot to design a simple PS like a Pi with resistor e.g. ...
Well I have the pcb in front of me... outstanding viewing quality. Will take my time to avoid stupid fatal errors !

I am order 100006034 and have not received notification yet.
Since I didn't see the pre order list, one concern is that I didn't get on the list, maybe other people are worried about that too.
I expressed my interest in a post on this thread.

Hi!
Can someone explain to me simply and clearly how to be connected this DAC to a "USB to Spdif" converter ? it is a CM6631 converter.
(I have a Spdif out RCA connector in the converter and a coax cable to the DAC)
How to connect the volume pot? What kind of pot should I use???
Thanks in advance!

My order number was 100006028, and that shipped yesterday. Looks to me that they are working sequentially through order numbers.
UPS say that the board will be delivered tomorrow. It's currently on a stop-over in Hawaii. 🙂

At 1105 pacific time, I received shipment notification. It doesn't show up in the UPS system yet, but since they are in Cal I expect it by tomorrow or Thursday.
Yes, that is true. Soren did say that he added hysteresis and filtering to the pot input to prevent noise ingress.
Yes, that is what Søren has said. The pot is not in the signal path in any way.
If you say so,
Any mono linear one from 1K to 10K, preferable high quality conductive plastic to avoid noise....
Avoid noise???
Avoid noise???
Yes, If you have glitches or jumps in resistance, there will be some "noise". It happens - I have heard it because I didn't have a conductive-plastic pot. But I will get one.
The pot adjust a DC on a pin associated with the attenuation of the level done in the digital domain. Therefore not in the analogue signal path.

It lives !
I have the DAC working - playing music
Jriver-DiyinhkXMOS->SørenDAC->Amp->Speakers.
Couple of problems -
Volume using pot does not work, full (I think) volume when no pot connected.
Plop come click when changing for 44k to 384k.
Sounds very promising.
More testing tomorrow with a better amp and speaker collection.
Also have Amanero and other USB-I2S units to try.
Cheers, Dean.

If you say so,
Avoid noise???
The potmeter is not in the audio path, the uC have a A/D converter which read the value and send controls to the digital volume control in the FPGA.
But with 106 1db steps from -90 to +15 then it don't take much to change the volume level....
Sören..
SPDIF2 is intended for Toslink, rigth?
/
Correct, SPDIF1 goes to a sensitive LVDS receiver, for Coax or AES/EBU, SPDIF2 goes to a regular 3.3V CMOS level input buffer, for connection directly to a Toslink receiver.
Avoid noise???
Yes. You understand that noise will effect conversion from analog to digital, right? Noise = glitches in response.

So, if I understand this correctly, with no pot connected (or with a pot connected and set to maximum) the DAC is playing at +15db?

No, the uC detect if there is no potmeter connected and set gain to 0db. With potmeter (or by software) the gain can be set from -90 to +15 db.
