Finally got a chance to download some pic's from the contest!

Nice looking floor standing "Criton.2T" MTM 2-way kit from CSS.

My 3-ways

Larger pair was transformed from a 1970's SpeakerLab Two (2-way) into a 3-way. Original SpeakerLab 10" woofer, 4.5" Vifa/JBL mid, 1" CSS ERT26 tweeter. Aperiodic vent added to rear of cabinet. L-pads incorporated separately for tweeter and midrange. Fb ~ 33 Hz or so.

Smaller compact pair uses 6.5" Silverflute woofer, 3" SEAS 10-FM midrange, and 1" Peerless NDT53 tweeter. Cabinet is Madisound 20 liter. Net internal volume (after displacements) is 17.5 liters. Fb ~ 38 Hz.

Not that the opportunity can reasonably be expect to arise sufficiently to be of concern.

A special thanks to everyone who attended and helped out. So many things that need to be done, and everyone's efforts are appreciated. It's always a good time.

The bass driver(s), tweeters, and XO parts in Howard's cost less than $130?

Because the midranges (won at diyFEST 2013) retail for $170/pr -- i bet only the retail for a stock pair was accounted for.

A lot of work put into the speaker projects, collectively.

Our club has been very fortunate to have access to this space. A big central area for regular meetings, with 3 or 4 separate rooms to the sides for independent setups, and a storage room for equipment and chairs, etc.

The local library branch is going to use the space temporarily (a year?) while it undergoes remodeling. In the meantime, we'll be moving our meetings to a different place. It will take some adjustment, but hopefully it will be good also.

I guess I can't give you an exact breakdown for Howard's speaker components.

But I can say that his speakers sound very good, and they scored highest for the day. Even if he had been in the next highest category, nothing would change the fact that his were judged as the best sound of the show.
