I love pronouncing this in a phonetic sort of manner with a long 'i', when I am around the uninitiated.
When it gets pronounced really wrong it almost sounds like haha..oh nevermind
I just had a bout of acute pancreatitis and didn't eat or drink for 4 days. This really made me appreciate food and how lovely it is. My diet is limited till my numbers come further down so I guess I am torturing myself in this food thread 🙁
Oh well I guess I will eat some fruit.......
somebody please end my life 😉

wine counts as fruit, right? 😀
It's made from fruit. Must be.
Colonoscopy came back with no polyps this time, last time they removed a couple that were "pre-cancerous" whaever that means.
Come back in 5 years for more fun.😀
Oatmeal for breakfast after the procedure.
I spent the afternoon mowing lawn, Trimming the Wheaping Willow, and working in the garden.
Two Tacos from Taco-bell for lunch (first time in a year).
Tomato plants have flowers. Squash is looking good.
I'll have grilled salmon, kale and onions, and steamed broccoli for dinner.
The broccoli, onions and kale from my garden.
I think I'll have a beer after dinner, or better yet go to the licquor store and get a bottle of wine to have with dinner. Maybe a chardonnay.

I like how you think!
haven't had a day go bad enough in recent memory that a nice Cab-Sav or Pinot Noir couldn't mitigate - throw in appetizers like minted rack of lamb or plate of fungi Baos, and dinner is suddenly far less urgent
Cal - next time you're in town, try to visit
The Village for dinner- (shameless plug for my son's restaurant)
Funny that mint and I don't get along, I favour poultry style seasoning on lamb.throw in appetizers like minted rack of lamb
Pray tell, google didn't seem interested in helping me.or plate of fungi Baos
You will be accompanying me. Nothing like having your Dad show up at your place of work after a bottle or two of wine. Or do you save the misbehaving for the VanIsleFest?Cal - next time you're in town, try to visit

The menu for "The Village" looks very appetizing, I'll take the King size Meatloaf and a good strong ale thanks.
Anyone have a good recipe for pesto?
I'm thinking basil, garlic, olive oil, ???
Chives?
I don't usually eat bread, but I'm craving a baguette.
I picked up a Columbia Valley 2012 Chateau Ste Michelle Chardonnay to go with dinner.

the Breakfast / brunch Drop 3 is a treat for carnivores (closeted or otherwise) - I could just make it through, but then I'm barely half the man that Cal is 😉
the Bao is best described as an Asian style soft bun appetizer, in this case with Portobello mushrooms & other good stuff - just two ain't quite enough, but 6 might be too many (well, see above)
and yes, Cal, the best misbehaving (or so I'm told) is reserved for that weekend in August

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Good olive oil makes the difference in pesto, oh and don't forget the pine nuts and parmesan cheese.
at home we've recently started using organic avocado oil (Costco, believe it or not) in lieu of olive oil our veggie pan fries as well as salad dressings
No pine nuts on hand. I'll have to get some next time at the local fresh foods market.
I think I'll try Basil, Lemon balm, Chives and Garlic with olive oil and parmesan cheese.
All but the oil and cheese are from the garden.

Feel free to substitute pistachios, almonds or walnuts (toasted for best results) for the pine nuts.
Or just leave them out

Sacrilege I know..I like to cut the pesto with peas...
Not canned peas I hope.😱
