I would love to see an explanation how the Bybees make the electrons flow smoother even after they have passed trough the Bybee (which they wont do in a ac field such as music, and as they only travel slowly would take an hour just to pass through the device if not longer.

What does that have to do with hearing a difference, he said he heard a difference, everyone i have ever spoken to hear a difference, so it's obviously doing something. If JC, SY, Scott and Bybee cant explain , then enjoy.

I'm sure you can enjoy a drink without knowing it's chem trail ... 🙂

I just talked to Jack over the phone and I told him about JN's criticism of the AMES measurement. We both laughed.

So, no discussion or relevant engineering? That's your idea of refutation??

I repeat....GMAB.

Tis better you two laugh than try to discuss the engineering details of an ill-performed test...

I'm sure there are gullible people out there willing to believe pseudoscience.

I suspect you are adding "correctness", as a chef adds seasoning, while all the time sincerely believing that you are removing imperfections. You have already admitted that you sometimes prefer your tweaked sound to the original instrument, so we know your goal is not "hi-fi".
I don't prefer tweaked sound, rather that often when you listen to live sound you're not in an optimum space or position to hear the sound. Microphones are usually placed in the best possible orientation to pick up the event, so high quality reproduction of what they've registered may often be superior to what a casual listener at the same venue would have heard.

Since the quality of reproduction I'm after is not often heard it may be difficult to comprehend how it comes across, subjectively. This is why I use the word "convincing" often, because that is precisely how the sense of the experience registers. Normal audio comes across as a 'performance', by the equipment in front of you, mimicing what's on the recording. Convincing audio totally dominates your listening awareness, causes other, local to the room sounds to fade into the background - the musical event you're listening to becomes ascendant, especially as realistic volume levels; it's an extremely satisfying experience, where you feel as one with the music. If this is a 'distortion', then so is listening to the equivalent, live music ...

Edit: AJT mentions knowing "live" music when you hear it - high quality audio will eliminate the distinguishing characteristics.

It may well be that Diffmaker will extract the difference....David, the difference is audible quite clearly, so I expect that the difference signal is not very low in amplitude.

So far, it seems that low level system noise (level and spectrum) has a greater subjective effect than I have to date given credence to.
I am intentionally using a 'rough' system for this part of my subjective testing.
Good to hear you making progress, Dan. I wish you luck with DiffMaker, I have some something bordering on contempt for that software - however, you may be lucky enough to get something useful ... 😉

Low level distortions, 'noise', is what it's all about - not at all surprised at the impact with the 'rough' system ...
