My better half just left for a potluck and no men were invited. So I thought to hell with that and just ordered a heap of chinese food

egg rolls with plum sauce
chicken balls with sweet sour
curry beef
shrimp chow mein
sweet and sour spare ribs
chicken fried rice

I might be hibernating well into sunday 😎

Having fun using my new 100,000 BTU wok stand. Penang curry of snap peas and sauteed tofu. Nasi goreng. Tempeh with a peanut sauce.

Sounds really great too. Thats a serious wok.

The kid in me sent her a picture, but it was probably a wise move to save her some lol.

They messed my order up but no matter I ate plenty well. I'm in too good of a mood to call and b***h them out 😱

No room left for a beer yet lol

My name is Cal and I am only white on the outside. Beneath the skin is a multi cultural dude. Those dishes are what we 'adventuresome' types might have ordered many moons ago. The further you dig into other cultures, the more you either enjoy or 'get put off' by. For example, we went for Dim Sum today. On the carts were some traditional dishes and some 'somewhat' western inspired dishes.

Bean plant shoots
Gai Lan
Omasum tripe
Beef tendon
Pork breast knuckles
Feathered Taro
Ha Gow
Kung Pao style ribs
Something or other squid...
...and a bunch of others that I only know by seeing them, not by name including a maple flavoured fish bone, some shrimpy thing thing wrapped in bean curd sheet, a veggie kind of patty, a fat rice noodle with mysterious filling and the other stuff I am forgetting. All topped with a rice beer, who's name escapes me and Jasmine tea with the roasted rice.

**** I'm getting hungry again. 😀

Honey says all I'm allowed tonight is salad. I don't like my honey right now.

Same here. But Im not quite as adventurous, I havent gone for any pig nuckles when Ive encountered them. But almost all else goes, Always been a big fan of most seafoods. I tried caviar last winter and Ill be damned it was delicious. So is squid. In the past I would of turned my nose at the whole idea of fish eggs. Im looking forward to taste of the danforth this july. Traditionally its mostly if not all greek food but these days others get in on the action. Toronto is like NY when it comes to diversity. Anyone thats close minded on foods from different cultures are missing out.

Whats so good about them? I mean why go for the knuckles when there are so many other juicy delicious cuts to choose from higher up. Maybe I will have to try some lol. I had roasted boar a couple of summers ago it was nothing short of incredible. And pork ribs prepared well are out of this world, I would sit and not leave the table until I'm stuffed. I'm one of the biggest foodies you could ever meet and probably eat at least double what the average adult consumes. Maybe not two cals, you look like you can pack the food away pretty good yourself haha.

I'm at the age where you don't eat a shadow of what you used to.

Both my wife and I cook as a hobby and we take a lot of food over to others as there's no way of eating it ourselves. We are very adventurous in the kitchen.

I expect the Boar you had was brined. Was it roasted on a spit?

Pai Gwut, like any food, is good because of the taste. No I'm not being a smart ***, I don't know how else to say it. 🙂 We have found the rib meat of almost any animal are some of the finer tasting.

Me and my wife are the same, we both love cooking and experimenting in the kitchen. Shes asian canadian and brings lots of good ideas to the table. Shes a hell of a baker too I swear shes going to make me all fat one day. The boar was roasted outside over charcoal on a spit through the night into the next day when we dined in it. We sat enjoying suds and the aromas while we kept the animal company up at a restaurant bar the kawartha lakes. The food and atmosphere was great had a really nice time.
