The point is that L & R need to be in the same direction.
Swap the direction of L or R connection, and the centre image and focus can move sideways, and balance control does not fix it.

Surely power cables must be directional as well then. Of course desoldering/decrimping AC plugs is a bit of a hassle for an ABX test.... Clearly that means there is a market for direction-swappable power cords that's just waiting to be filled!?

I'll take it a step further then - get myself an electrician's license so I can go to audiophile homes and rewire their entire homes with properly oriented AC wire.
Or even make my own power company, with audiophile-quality hydroelectric dams. Because hydroelectric has better musical flow than coal fire.

I truly believe you are fooling yourself. Please go look at the definition of AC. Physics, not just a good idea, it's the law.

What if I buy a set of audio cables that are bundled together (L & R) , and the wires in them are oriented in opposite directions?
I mean surely, it creates the tides, so it's a big deal! Imagine what it does to your electrons.
`my favourite amplifier has over 3000 metres of "signal" wire between input, interstage and output transformers ....... why should we worry about the humble metre of interconnect and its humble crystalline polarities ?? 🙂
I wonder how many meters of cabl/wire the signals traveled through from instrument /mic, amplifier, mixer, etc to storage, then from storage media through post recording processing then on to storage again and finally from storage to distribution media?

Seriously I always wonder if the people who 'invent' market and sell this stuff are mad, evil or just deluded, don't know if I should hate or pity them. They sound so helpful....... they know I want to believe.😕
