They still are. There's a fanatical attention to detail, and an amazing variety of technologies, material, process, and design. I find that aspect very interesting, so I enjoy working on their projects. Ironically, I have something less than zero interest in golf itself. That's a pity- an avid golfer would kill to get in there and see what's going on.

I once saw what looked like a string of nanotubes. Even my 1000 power microscope could reveal very little information. I gave up trying at that point. Still, in future, if info can be measured, I will do it.
Perhaps a little knowledge of basic undergrad optics might have saved you the trouble.
No, just too little power. I, at least, made an attempt to see something. There was no initial promise that I would. By the way, I took a course in undergrad optics about 50 years ago, just like you did, once.
The difference is that I actually remember some of it. To be fair, much of my research involves nanotechnology, so I'm forced to use those basics on a daily basis.

Because when people give you the answers, you tend to forget them and repeat the same mistakes. When you figure things out for yourself, you have a better chance of learning something and having it stick.

No thanks SY, I don't want to play, 20 questions. I know what I had, what I saw, and the limitations of my optical equipment. Of course, I saw 'something' just not a lot of detail.
Well, if you want to understand advanced concepts, you first have to grasp elementary ones. If you feel that it's too difficult for you to try to understand the basics, or that your motivation is something other than actual understanding and progress, that's your choice.
