Jean-Paul,
Thanks for the detailed description - it looks like they used some high quality parts on the board that Danzz designed. You are right about not having to make our own class D TPA boards anyhow - give it time and someone in China or HK will make it for cheaper than the BOM cost.
Can't wait to get your listening impressions.
Totally agreed!!!... even we designing our boards we cant compete with that, only the BOM would double the price... I might write them to ask them to send me a board for free at least!!!....hehehe!!!!...
blue boards
Hey Phil,
Give us a link to those blue boards you are talking about. Most likely, yes, they will use a 12VDC supply also. Be sure to get at least a 2 amp one.
I still see some YJ version 2.0 boards on eBay. They are good. Just remember the R and L on the "input" is marked wrong on the boards. Someone posted about that being the case. So, just put you L input where it says right, etc.

hi everybody!
ive just taken interest in building one of these little amps. infact i just tried to order the newest yj 2.0 boards (the blue ones) but the yuanjing site was down.
anyway i got a couple questions
i know the other boards can run on 12v dc. am i right in assuming this newer one will be able to run on 12v too? i know i wont get the full power. dont need it. still need it to sound its best of course!
also. can the new board still be bridged to make it a mono amp?
i figure the new boards shouldnt be all that different regarding these two things. please correct me if im wrong.
plus ive gathered from this thread that the board design is pretty much that of a member here. props to you sir! so i figured id ask my questions here.
thanks
phil

Oh yeah.
Yuan Jing Audio - ON SALE! - TPA3116 Class-D 2.0 Stereo Amplifier Board [50W+50W] - $19.99
This is the one. From what I've gathered here it Danzz design. They recommend 18-28v but I've done a bit of searching and have found that's been the recommendation for the other yj boards too. But plenty of users report success w 12v. Of course that's if lower output power will do for you. And in my case that would be just fine. I'm wanting to power it with a battery from a riding lawn mower that I have on hand. I have a very nice regulated dc suppy that I can use with the battery too if need be. My thought is that the battery can be used for the cleanest power.
In regards to bridging the boards for a single channel. I may end up setting some of these up for friends. N they may want the highest power they can get!!! 😀
Peace
Phil

It would be fair if they did that but they would also admit that they copied it 😉
I marked it in blue at the attached image.
Please, one question more: where can I find, in the pcb, few volt for a simple on/off led?
Or you could use a blue LED and make Jean-Paul go nuts 😀
NEIN, not blue ! 😱

Green is ok, but 8k2 resistor seems to be too high.
I=(19-2)/8200=2mA
I think "I" should be around 15-20 mA that means R=1000 ohm, isn't it?

2 mA is enough for a very soft glowing standard green 3 mm LED. Or it must be that you like to wear sunglasses while listening.
6k8 is OK for a normal glowing standard green 3 mm LED. Older generation LEDs needed 10 to 20 mA. Please try out what you like. IMO the equipment itself should not distract from listening but you might think otherwise and that's OK.

Using a power LED that requires 15-20mA seems extraordinarily excessive as it would double the idle power consumption of the amp. 🙂

Ok, here are my tests:
- green led with a 5k resistor works well! 😀
- 100µF capacitor doesn't work.... bumps still there 🙁

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
In that light (ha ha) given that these are extraordinarily efficient amps, what would be the most efficient way of making an 'on' light/led ?

Not to have one at all. Don't really see the point of it but you are welcome to explain why you'd want one.
LEDs
Hint: Use a constant current source set at a low value such as 2-5mA or what ever brightness you like. Use the SDZ control to disable the CCS so that idle I is only that of the 3116.
The CCS allows for constant LED brightness regardless of the supply V.
I worked for a lighting ballast mfg recently, where Philips was our biggest customer. We could sell ballasts to them cheaper than they could make their own,Advance brand. We are talking shipping containers of them. Why, cheap mfg and comps, where every penny counted. With this method came some real reliability headaches. I know I heard the complains from irate customers.
Back to the hockey game.
Cheers

Sure you can but you have the mfg over there where people work for a bag of rice and you have to buy the comps in bulk. It is a numbers game.... even we designing our boards we cant compete with that

Does anyone know if the Feixiang 2.1 board with 4 trimpots have an adjustable sub woofer XO frequency?

I got one, havent tried yet, but If I dont recall badly it Said a adjustable XO from 80hz-500hz, but I dont know If its a low pass for the subwoofer or high pass for the satellites, o maybe both, as it has four pots... If I have the time during the week, I Will try it and try to figure it out... And post it...
