Anyone familiar with James output transformers?

9-10 years ago, I moved from 300B-PP to 300B-SET only because of overpaid/inflated prices for 300B tubes.
Today, with cheap Chinese 300B, I'd choose for a push-pull.

If you decide to purchase James 6123HS (2k5, 3k5, 5k), I recommend using 3k5 tap because they are better treble. Due to lower Lp, the bass will be somewhat weaker than with 5k tap.
Lundahl no such problem.

Hi Yagoolar,
I have my own opinion about distortion, and I do not read opinions of other DIY-ers about it.

We are not interested in your opinions of disinterest in our dis-interesting opinions of distortion.

You better read this next part with your eyes closed.

It's not opinion, it's physics. SE is slightly better at reproducing the smallest details, this is from a practical standpoint.

They same cancellation that makes PP measure lower in distortion inadvertently removes some of the texture of the music.

Not a big deal really.

If you are more concerned with having mostly unused watts then ultimate sound quality, then build PP

If you want the slightly better fidelity offered by SE, then you build SE.

This is a separate from the harmonic distortion differences of the two.
