@Charles Darwin
Thanks for the info, but this morning I have lifted faulty driver magnet and.....Aooooh yessss!!!!!
I found where open circuit is !!!. Is a typical loudspeaker failure, broken coil wire where soldered to braid. Not easy to fix because is under dust cup ( was impossible to see it from out side ) and I want to leave cone and dust cap intact. Will try solder the connection from inside of the coil !?!?
@doctordata
nice work have you made whit those nice filters !!! looks really good !!!
I will follow blue_luke and your "active evolution" because I have an Xta electronic DP426 waiting and a couple pro amps for this purpose..
This tread starts to be interesting !!!!
thanks to all

due to some constraints I did not work anytime on my speakers.
But I did a fair bit of research on the subject of biamplifying the system.
I found this site which is pretty much everything there is about tannoys: TANNOY Monitor Gold dual concentric speakers and particularly a complete discussion on the 'notch' in the passive crossover that is included in this active crossover circuit. tannoy
I also found that some guys use 2 amps per speaker by feeding the same signal to both amp and splitting the two sections in the passive crossovers 😕 I guess there can be some benefit here (better controlled impedances)but at that point a 2 way crossover is quite easy to fabricate and quite inexpansive so why not go all the way?
See the link above and this excellent article on Rod Elliot site: Linkwitz-Riley Electronic Crossover
Any more thoughts?

I am working on the speakers. (evaluating the TS parameters, removing dust, cleaning and repairing the wiring and the Xover)
One of the speaker was poked by a kid in the dust cap. This is not major and should not alter it in anyway but it looks bad 🙁
While evaluating a course of action to fix this, I noticed that a part of it seemed unglued, I pulled ever so slightly and it came off very easily!
I have read that some will remove the dust cap but I feel that Tannoy knew what they were doing and I would like to place it back.
What kind of glue should I use then?

I did an AB listening test with and without the dust caps ,
For me ( and the family) the speaker without the dust cap sounded more "crisp" Of course its not called a "Dust Cap" for no reason . You can get dust and other stuff between your magnet and voice coil . But I left them of after the last recone .
I have a pair of New Dust caps on my desk , free for anyone interested + shipping .
For the glue , I think any PVA or paper glue will do if used moderate .
Cheers ,
Rens
PVA?
That is for sure some resin acronym.
It's probably very common but I can not figure this one 😛

Troels Gravesens documentation of designing new crossovers might give you inspiration.

It can be used as a wood glue at full strength.
Watered down, it has many other uses.

I've erm.. "built' Ridley's active Xovers.
Frankly.. now relegated to the Spares box.
Emporer's Clothes.. as the quick answer.
Rebuilt (but re using OEM coils though) Tannoy original crossovers... simply sound/work better, with a LOT less complexity.
Notch?? Lotsa words on that subject 🙂.
Darned little audible evidence though.
Some can and do babble on about.. anything.
Caveat Emptor: Audio Land is full of half considered notions 🙂
other uses ?
You made me curious Andrew .
People in Australia do weird stuff with glue.
Please explain .

PVA most commonly known as white wood glue is used in many varying formula it is the single most widely manufactured adhesive in the world. From paper to wood to book binding to sealer and concrete additive. Fast set and extra sticky versions are the most popular craft adhesives. You can even bond onto glass if you know what you are doing. Makes excellent additive to paper mache to built paper horns of excellent quality Hope this helps and is of interest. Best regards Moray James.
