I was recently looking through Seattle Craigslist for older audio equipment. I saw a pair of Klipsch KG 4's for almost nothing. I remembered working in a local stereo shop and had the run of the place but always came back to these little guys. I could never get enough of them, yet I had the best out there to listen to.
Do you have some old speakers that just speak to you? If so, which ones?

Tanburg Faccett. After 40 years, they still are pleasant for background music. Didn't do much wrong. Most vintage speakers are only good to remind you how far driver technology and system design has come. Most are dreadful by today's standard. By sheer passage of time, maybe you could call a Vanderstein 2ce vintage. Still in production and still one of the best overall speakers ever built.
I'm still very glad I picked up a pair of KEF 103.2 some years ago. They're on my desk, and will stay there.

Undoubtedly the speakers I most wanted were the 1970's Gale GS401A 3 ways.
Gorgeous to look at. 2X 8" bass, 4" peerless paper foamed mid and Celestion HF 2000 tweeters. A pig of a 4 ohm load. But astonishing SLAM on rock music.
Close second, the Wharfedale E70's:
Great presence, undoubtedly due to the D'Appolito midrange idea. I still want to recreate this baby with modern drivers. 😀
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

I have a few pairs that I have really come to like, each with its own unique qualities.

Quad ESL 63's and Quad ESL 57's for different things. The ESL 63's are still my main speakers, though I do like the look of the 57's better.

Altec Magnificents. An A7 for the home.
Mind you the Patricians and The Tannoy Westminsters don't hurt either but the 'in your face' Altecs have always had a soft spot.

Paper-coned Tannoy DualConcentrics.
Any age really.

Looks like the same driver complement I saw in a B&W speaker at the local flea market for ~$40 this Saturday past.
Gasp, the L100 is exactly what I was talking about, how bad the vintage speakers were. I had some L26's.
Good ones? The B&W DM2 was the first true high fidelity speaker I ever heard. (owned the JBL's at the time). Kef 104a was another. For their time, they were great. By todays standard, or even what I can build, no thanks!
