ES9023 dac on ebay

why is so expensive considering a 2,5$ DAC IC?
curryman's design is the most complex one I've seen around the ES9023 and includes also JG buffer on it's output and costs 40$ with all the components assembled; please describe what makes your board so special so that it costs more than a finished ES9018 DAC from ebay?

Τhe chip that alone can not determine the value of a device, the device was designed for six months with many tests, the final result is above expectations ,the other materials of board are first quality and expensive , just the u.fl connectors cost 6 euros from mouser , etc etc ..
unfortunately the final construction costs are quite high, so the final price can not go below this price

so simple thinks

if someone wants to buy,
if not
buy something else ,

cheers !
have a nice weekend !

I bought this DAC a few weeks ago,and i very very satisfied .
Better than the DAC2496 (AK4396) even modified ..... a low cost DAC 😉

Hello designer,

Can you post 20Hz, 2KHz, 20KHz waveform measurement at 0dB ?

That means you are not the designer of this es9023 device, and may be don't know howto test a DAC......

Guys. Why do you always have to use harsh language when talking to each other? We are all a bit "sick" with our hobby so lets keep it calm🙂
Anyways. I have also ordered one of those so here are my impressions and mods.
1. Its a nice piece of DAC but I will not call it high end.
2. It has a sweet sound but lacks "something" I normally run with a dual WM8741 in dual Mono config and the Mambo cannot match the quiet and airiness of that setup.
3. it is quite nice if you want to do a small dac without too many peripherials.

My listening setup was the same for both dacs, so after the dac chip there is a tube buffer. The WMs have an addition of Mundorf Silver/gold Oil caps to block the DC, these are not necessary with the Mambo.
Regarding power supply i run them both on the same DIY Ultra low ripple battery driven PSU.
So IMHO if you want High end go with something else. If you need a nice cheap dac without too much "extras" its a good choice.
I also changed the filter caps to silver Micas and used more decoupling on the critical places on the board, helped somehow but still a lot of road to cover to match the WMs.
