I found a swedish distrubutor of the lsk170 who imported directly from Linear Systems. Exepensive shipment so I bought 100 of them. Asked if they knew anything about the lsj74s but they didn't as they rarely get any orders for these kinds of components.

They promised to get in touch when they hear something.

I payed something like 3$ per unit including taxes and shipment.

I didn't say they were cheap. If you order more it would be a bit cheaper/unit. I don't know what prize you can get from somewhere else.

Do you mean the Toshibas and if so, from where do you buy them?

It's worthwhile making pen-pals (remember those?) to try avoiding some of the extortionate prices we sometimes see.

I got these on a recent visit to akihabara in Tokyo. And these were full whack retail prices - not from some locals only dens. Matched original 10ma SJ74s for less than $5 bucks a pair. Even the famed SJ44s are still around there.

yes they are originals - as tested on a curve tracer...

I just picked up 50 pairs from B+D - arrived yesterday in the mail. I wil measure Idd on them this weekend (hopefully) and see how many pairs I can get to match within 0.1 mA.

For sure. I just finished checking Idss values as a first screen to see if they would at least be compatible with BL, which they are.

I neither have a curve tracer nor the experience in examining the characteristics of these transistors any further. I desire to send a few matched pair to someone to see if these are legit, as I presume they should be, given Jim's (6L6) experience. Might anyone with such capabilities volunteer?
