Argentines for the world!

True but how can you guys even begin to compare yourselves with a country that invented Pablum, instant mashed potatoes, the Abdomenizer, Wonderbra, the Caesar drink, garbage bags and the egg carton? 😀

There were a few others of a more minor nature like Insulin, Canola oil, the Walkie Talkie, the TV camera, Amplitude Modulation, Cesium Beam atomic clock, the Telephone, the Pager, Hydrofoils, The electric street car, Snowmobiles, Electric wheelchair, snowblower, prosthetic hands, foghorn, gas masks, IMAX theatre, electron microscope, plexiglass, the pacemaker, the electric oven, paint rollers, Ardox nails, Robertson screws and last but not least, Marrette wire nuts.

Not bad for the 35th most populous country. I guess when you have that much space, it really 'opens' your mind. 🙂
Very informative thanks. These prettys are very useful in the modern life.
Apparently this powerful country also explode 1030 nukes bombs in its own national land just for testing and more two under war.

Yes, Senna was very Brazilian and proud of it. I remember the emotion on the podium after he won the Brazilian GP with a broken gear box. The memory of Senna just went hand in hand with the memory of Maradona. I wrote it as I thought it.

IMO Nationalistic jingoism in general is not good for the planet, just sayin'.

I agree, however, the purpose of this thread is, under the pretext of having an Argentinian Pope, half jokingly, brag about some things that make us proud to be Argentines.

The positive side is the cultural exchange that allows us to know each other a little more, away from regular technical discussions.

It's hard not to hurt feelings, is a delicate balance, I believe that with the help and understanding of the moderators, slowly we are getting there.

Take for example the case of an Argentine who lives abroad, and on top of a hill overlooks the city where he lives.

A passing villager, asks

- What are you doing ?

To which, the Argentine answer

- I'm looking at, as the city is without me...

😀

Very informative thanks.

Apparently you have trouble with non-violation of a No1 rule of this forum, and favor getting your hiney kicked out pronto.
Just saying. :clown:

I mean this

Btw I was born in Germany very near the dutch border, the nearest town was a place called Emmen, Netherlands.
(Only mentioning this because I just saw your location)

For the branch of my father, my grandfather was from Köln, and my grandmother from Freising.

For the branch of my mother, my grandfather was from Austrian Tyrol, and my grandmother was Argentine.

So, my blood is 25% Argentinian. 😀

The 'nt' was because I tried to respond to a post without quoting and then found out that I completely missed an entire page. Hence the 'too late' reason for editing. Silly me…

As for bloodlines on my fathers side it's friesian and on my mothers saxon (her grandparents came from Saxon-Anhalt, the area around Magdeburg).
Altogether 100% german. Bit boring really.

Spent a lot of time at wineries in Mendoza. Have yet to find an Argentinian wine that I'd buy. Very industrial, woody and alcoholic, anonymous-tasting. The specialty seems to be Malbec, but it's tough to distinguish it from their Cabernets.

I'd bought a bottle of Argentinian wine recently and find it very good. I would rate it better than Chilean. Of course it impossible to compete with France.

Agree, though I have had a few privately imported Chilean reds which were much better than drinkable. Don't worry about SY's put down of Argentinian wine........He is after all very knowledgeable in that area too. BTW SY very smart Tux!!

I'm 100% Hick, but I dig-big Jewish girls with fat eyebrows.

(I make an exception for Rachel Weisz, not as chunky, but I'd thumB her too)

😀

No problem, now I can understand. 😉

Nice mixture. 🙂

I have a strict policy against that. Married three shiksas.

This is a small world.

Sniffing in my family tree, I found a couple of Jewish ancestry, seriously.

I don't know much about wine, but the next time you come, I will not forgive you if you don't come to visit me.

BTW. Forget about kosher food, just "asado" and "empanadas" 😀
