At the second filtercap,is that at the ouput of the PSU?There it is 4.97v
Actually I just choose the first transformer I came across in the Elfa catalog..
And I had to slightly bend the pins of the transformer to make it fit on the pcb.
And the extra fuse holder...I forgott there was a fuse on the pcb but had drilled the hole on the back..so I thoght I just as well use it..🙄
What happends if you twist the Spdif cable?

I had to use this transformer and it actually fit nicely. It had to ship from US to HK but orignated from China.

Double safety 😀, no, just laziness 😱Hi Fred, can you explain why you use 2 fuses in series ? 😉
The PS performs very well, I had my second Dac board built last weekend.Nice build, how does the power supply perform ?
I am able to compare various PS that I have built for this Dac side by side.
To my ear and my gears, this PS is better than all the souped up 7805/LM317 types of PS and is a touch below the Salas BiB 1.1. But considering the simplicity of packaging the PS and the Dac in one small chassis with such quality, it will be difficult to beat.
Thanks for the comment. I am glad you like it. LM723 is a good chip, better than most LDO regs. I knew some would laugh at it but quality was the parameter we choose it for. It seems we did the right thing 🙂
Hi Åke, I mean at the second 1000 uF cap.
It is 15v
Q1 gets "fingertip hot"
So you could have used a 2 x 7.5 V transformer. As long as the LM723 gets 9.5 V minimum it wil be OK. Mount a small heatsink or a piece of L shaped aluminium on Q1 just in case.
Or the Eagle project files?
Or will you post the Eagle CAD project files? THAT would be slick!! Then we could MOD it a bit... "it IS DIY"
Is it still possible to get the board and instruction to build this dac?
Thanks

What's the best sounding version of the ES9023 to get off ebay in the UK? I don't mind putting it in a case and building my own PSU

As far as I can see the best ebay version is the UAE23+

How does this compare with the Subbu Group Buy version above? Is that available ready assembled? I'm unfamiliar with surface mount stuff.
