Great work Andrew. I think you are in for a real treat when you get all this done.
I agree that a week for burn in is a good start. I wish I had room for horn midbass, but the room is just too small. What are you doing for sub work?

Never say you don't have enough room...!Great work Andrew. I think you are in for a real treat when you get all this done.

For sub, I'm still chewing over it. My big plans for a massive wall mounted horn is more a dream.
Best options so far:
Bill fitzmaurice 'table' tuba
Volvotreter's dual 30hz tapped horns
Cheers
Have had horns running for a few days...getting better and better. Lovely listening to bass attack notes.
Back chamber has angled baffles to avoid standing waves...plus some minor dampening.
See pic of three-way horn layout drawn roughly to scale.

I'm sorry to report that I've exceeded my allocated floor space for these horns...so I'll have to move everything into my lounge room. As such, I don't have room for the mid bass horns. :-(
So, the project has come to halt. I'll build some standard bass boxes instead. Hopefully, the two stone horns up top will sound OK. If not, they'll go as well.
Regards

How do you exceed floor allocation 😕
cheers
Well that is a real drag Atilsley. Too bad you live across the pond, or I'd take them off your hands.😀
WAF?
Honey ,would you rather loose a bit of floor space or have me take up pool or darts at the local 😉 😀 .
Cheers
Very nice. I have been listening to the D405 for going on 3 years now. It is perfect in it's range.
Give them 4, 1 inch cubed feet. then they will only be taking up 4inches squared of floor space....😉
Or you could possibly set the whole rig up with just the compression section of the midbass horns in the setup, then when you listen to music you could "clip on" the horns
in other words, make them removable. you may need some nice soft rubber or something, but im sure you could devise a system of some sort
Or, if you have only just exeeded the floor space allocation, your could have just the large outer section of the horns on a hinge, with clips or something....
If it is WAF, its nice it is done by floor space taken and not volume of the room taken.... You may be able to find a nice way to work around your problem🙂

I'm using motor bike riding as the lever...

Because of room size problem (WAF!), I need to rethink the mid bass horns.
Two options.
1. Lie units on side facing either in or out. See pic of crude mock up of what I mean. Interestingly, the imaging of this config was very good indeed. I'll build up the middle angled baffles today to test more properly.
2. Have units firing downwards. For this, I would raise them off the floor by 50cm, and build two angled 'walls' for the bottom sides...plus a 45 degree angled baffle for the rear (against the wall side).

Thanks. What type of horn?
I'll try thm on their sides first. (Will know how it sounds by the weekend.)Could make them into "J" horns. Or, mount them through the wall
Then I'll try them firing down, with a 45 degree baffle added.
I'd love to have them firing straight ahead...but look at the attached pic.
Unless I convert my bedside tables into clever 'musical cabinets', I'm doomed. I'm not sure Mrs would want a 110dB bass unit pounding away...save that for.....
