My phone that now contains a Kindle reader requires a $50 cable to connect the propretary jack on the phone to HDMI. I don't have one.

The VISTA box that I am typing this on is connected to a 32 inch TV and a 24 inch monitor. The schematics are perfect on the TV screen, and quite usable on the 24 inch also.

I have several computers (at least 8 depending on how you define "computer"). One is a Linux only box (Ubuntu 11.04) and two are multi boot. I even have OS2 Warp 4 on one of them. The only OS I don't have is Apple. There is just too much stuff out there that is Windoze only.

The phone runs Android. The Android kernel was derived from the Linux kernel with a lot of stuff running on top of it, mainly the Dalvik VM. Some of the Android features have even been integrated back into the mainstream Linux kernel.

The place where I work makes Android phones, but with the recent company restructuring, I don't get to talk to the phone guys much any more. They used to talk of a common kernel being reformed from the two forks.

I've got the kindle version and have to say that the book is superb as everyone would expect, only disappointing thing is that formulae and diagrams don't show well with the right resolution - in particular large circuit diagram ones. Even on the desktop kindle client you get the same, so the book hasn't been converted in the best way to an ebook....

I'd recommend the paper version perhaps...

I have the Kindle version too, and am not thrilled with the presentation using kindle for pc on my laptop. It is pretty readable, but the interface is not that great IMO. It may be a long time before the printed version becomes available. The page format is weird..

How long is the line at the door? Soon as I get a copy printed of the 4th edition cover to glue on my old one, I'll have to inspect it for authenticity of course, wouldn't want someone to beat me to it.

I think I would hot wire it and take it for a joy ride.

Yeah, it's different on the phone too. I wanted to try it on Sherri's real Kindle, but she is leaving on a plane trip tomorrow and its already in the bag.

I say we talk Mr. Jones into taking it on the road; south Florida, San Francisco the day before Burning Amp and Sy a location of your choosing.


At each event Mr. Jones could sell signed copies of his book at the back table at intermission.
