Not according to the manual:
"Horizontal: Laser light emitted from the objective lens should be in the + direction
of Z-axis (- direction of gravity)."

Ah, the manual...
Have you a link to the manual or a datasheet? Google has failed me on this.
Thanks,

No, but the manual names are DA11B3VZ.pdf and DA11VZ.pdf.
They should be easy to find. Ignore the preliminary ones.
The ones I have are from "Common Ways International"

@tvicol
what do you think instead of to use MSR860 use LQA03TC600 🙂 Mouser code 903-LQA03TC600 ?

Francesco,
You can use any rectifier you like as long this will fit the PCB.
If you look in schematic we have recommended silicon-carbide CREE CSD-01060A. IMHO silicon-carbide CREE are the best rectifiers currently available in market.

Hi, I have a problem with my shigaclone.
If I try to play a cd, the player does not respond.
This is on the remote control and the control with the display.
If I close the switch, turns the cd neat and sees the numbers.
Only when I push the play button nothing happens. What can be the cause? Laser or print?
Regards,
Matthijs

So the shiga can spin up and read the TOC correctly?
Very likely something to do with the play switch and the connection from that to the main board. Try removing and re-inserting the ribbon cable? Do the skip buttons work OK on either the remote or the buttons?

Yes, it spin up and read toc correctly.
The skipp buttons on the remote and the other buttons don´t work.
I already re-installed the ribbon cable.

OK, If it reads the TOC ok then I don't think there is anything wrong with the crystal or mechanism. It seems more likely that there is some kind of break between the display board and the mechanism - so when the button is pressed or the IR receives a signal, it isn't transmitted to the main board. IIRC, all those buttons are normally open types - can you short one at the display board, and then do the same thing at the correct pins where the ribbon cable connects in? You could also test for continuity at either end of the ribbon cable too.... It wouldn't be the first time the ribbon cable was damaged....
If its not the cable/connection somehow I'm stumped.

The ribbon cables are both fine. i think the problem is in the mechanism with the sprockets. Luckily i have a spare boombox 😉 So i first try a new mechanism.
OK, I've never seen this problem before. Can you try one more thing? Gently move the laser sled to the far end of its travel, then put on a CD and press the TOC switch. If the motors are OK, the sled should move back to the inside of the CD and hunt around a bit as it reads the TOC.
Very odd problem!

ok, the motors are ok. it´s slide to the inside of the cd and i got "14" in my screen...but when the laser is at the begin position it "jumped" a little bit back from the starting position.
I think thats Ok.
I just checked mine there now and it does the same thing. Then the laser "rests" a little bit out from the start. When I then press play, it jumps back a little, then more slowly moves to the inside of the CD and start to play.
By any chance have you separated the controller board from the mechanism? I ask because the other thing that could be wrong is if the sled is hitting the stop switch at the wrong place. People who separated the board from mechanism had to add a pin to the sled so that it still contacted the switch. If that was out of alignment that could cause the problem.
The image below might help maybe in tracing the fault?

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.
Yes, i have separated the controller board from the mechanism.
The pin from the sled was moveable because the glue was dried out and i fixed this. I have moved the controller board many times for making the right contact to the switch, but without succes...
I have 3 new mechanism from ebay with the sled fixed to the mechanism. So that problem is solved. I´m waiting for the longer ribbon cable for the mechanism.
